I'm sure it was an error...who knows if they'll adjust the invoice.

And I put all the hot lambic dealz here!

It looks like they raised prices across the board. 3 Fonteinen, Fantome, etc, etc....all 1-2 Euros more than they were just the other day.

Must've been a keying error when they got to that Vat 109.

First they ruin the website, then they jack up prices. Etre was our last pure thing we had...

Why does Fonta Flora get another chance to host after the **** they pulled the last time?

What happened at Fonta Flora?

I'll be looking to go to Schera's. I've gone the past two years and really enjoyed it. Guaranteed pour of Zwanze, plus bunch of other exciting lambic and beers. It's a great venue, drinking on an elevated patio above a river in small town Iowa. Last year we camped afterwards and that made the experience so much more.

They held a "lottery" for attendance. Turns out they just ended up hand picking their friends and other members of the beer industry.

I love The Porter but it's way too small for an event like this. I didn't even bother trying to go last year. The Brick Store would have been a much better choice. Or at least alternate years between the two bars.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm. Hasn't it always been at Lord Hobo? I went once in like 2013 and it was awful.

No, I think they haven't gotten it the last two-ish years? Not sarcasm. Trillium has had it most recently, but I don't really like the money-grab (ie buying tix that includes stuff like glassware and snacks and then having to buy drink tickets).

The last time it was at LH was a bit of a **** show but I don't think anyone got turned away. I arrived as doors opened and even I got pours of everything. Also slightly biased because it's like 10 min from my apartment.

Fair enough. The one time I went it was an absolute shitshow and way too packed.

I liked the system at WLV when I went, just pay once for a glass and everything inside is unlimited (including food). They brought out tons of crazy weird bottles (including Soleil de Minuit, never thought I'd try that one) and the bottle share was also tons of fun.

I greatly preferred the Trillium experience to Lord Hobo. I forget what year it was but the lack of ticketing / line control at LH ended up with a whole bunch of people being shut out after others people jumped ahead in line last minute with friends. I can’t make it this year regardless but hopefully they make some improvements.

Also thought the snacks and glassware at Trillium were top quality so I could justify the cost there.

I used Etre for my last shipment from 3F and they are hands down better than BiaB on communication and shipping. Much sturdier boxes, but I wish they could ship more than 14 bottles at a time.
They can do a lot more than 14 if you have 375's (or 330's, as is more typical for me). But yeah, it would be nice if you could get those monster boxes like BiaB does for the mega packs. Then again, the times I've gotten those they've been basically falling apart, so maybe it's better Etre's way.

It hasn’t been announce yet as they were still deciding which one it was going to be in June when I was there. Both 2018 and 2019 already packaged (assuming they don’t decide to do something totally different)

Interesting. So either extended aging for one or a relatively early Zwanze next year? Hoping for that almond lambic you posted a photo of not too long ago.

Side note: what happened to the amphora lambic? There were a few photos of it bottled that popped up on social media not too long ago. If I remember correctly that was destined to be a Zwanze beer. Would love to try it.

I ended up in Chicago for a conference right before ZD 2013 and went to WLV for it with a couple friends. Loved the experience so much I flew back for it in 2014. It's a great way to do it. de Garde also does a great ZD that's somewhat similar.

Cardamom, I think you mean. I really think that was just a bit of let's put some lambic into some carboys and see what happens and bottle a bunch off, but I'm totally guessing. I didn't actually ask about a bottle count or anything, but I'm pretty sure it's going to a chef to do some cooking/pairings. It was really, really strong.

It was actually just served at a tasting during Arrogant Sour Fest earlier this summer. It's still probably the highest on my wish list to try but I've just never been around. The amphorae are currently sitting empty in the new location just waiting to be filled again. The first time they were filled was with wort, but I think next time they're just gonna take some lambic and try finishing it in them to hopefully yield a softer lambic.

Woops, yes, I meant cardamom. Thats a shame it was very strong. A mild cardamom lambic sounds really delicious.

Ya, I believe the photos I saw were from that tasting. Once upon a time they would post regular updates of the project on Facebook but that dropped off after the interview Jean gave where he mentioned the batch being used for a future Zwanze. I hope to try it some day.

Thanks for the insider info, btw!

Brickstore is smaller than the porter though. Wrecking bar would have been the best location IMO. I went last year and got early to get a table right next to the bar. It went really smooth. just hung out all day for the various taps. The owner let us share beers in line before the tickets went on sale. I'm definitely gunna go again.

The Porter is one of the best bars I've been to, love that place. Definitely small for an event like this though.
