I am doing that lambic dishwashing thing again.

Random bottle pull, seems decent enough.

I've never ordered from BiaB but the stories about those boxes made it an easy decision to pay the extra 30 euros and go with Etre for the proxy service.
I live in CT and my BiaB boxes have always been completely fine. I even ordered an oud beersel bag of lambic once. I guess it makes a difference if the journey has to go through Chi or LAX instead of NYC.

I recently switched to Etre as well. Customer service at BiaB seems to have fallen off quite a bit over the last year and their boxes seem to get flimsier and flimsier. I’d say the last four times I used them I’ve had corners completely blown out. I sure miss foam inserts though for reusing.

Has anyone on here heard back from BiaB regarding Cantillon proxy? I sent Kurt my ticket, but haven't gotten a reply yet. Not sure if I need to send him my ID as well - he didn't ask for it, but hearing rumors it might be needed.

Etre asked for mine, just an FYI

I’d guess that with the amount of orders he’s getting to be a proxy for people, it’ll take a while. He shipped stuff for me a few months back during the time of Quintessence, and it took him a month just to initially respond to my email about when the beer would be shipped. Everything did eventually arrive in the classic blue pool tubes, and with plenty of different sized holes in the cardboard box :)

Cantillon put in their original post about the pack that a photo ID is required for Proxy

I was also thinking about using etre this time ( I’ve been solely using biab for the last several years). Does anyone on the west coast have experience receiving etre packages in the last year or so? I remember all the stories of people’s boxes getting confiscated by customs on the west coast the last 2-3 years. I haven’t had a problem with biab boxes getting to me recently, but haven’t tried etre yet and I’d like to. Thanks for any help!

Haven't heard anything about it in quite some time.

Seems like they don't need id (though I sent mine), and they emailed me back (edit: last night I got the email) saying they'd contact me shortly in reference to the details.

3 etre shipments for me to San Francisco area in the last year. All of them made it within a week of shipping out

Got a response this morning, I had sent them my ticket and a couple friends tickets and they stated that they needed copies of our ID's as well.

Yeah I don’t think it matters who’s shipping it, but LA is still sending boxes back.
It's been a long time since I've had a box go through LA, though. So it seems like it's a fairly minor risk. Also you just end up paying shipping twice, it's inconvenient and expensive but it's not like the beer gets destroyed.

add me to the list of LAX rejections. mine was last week. didn't want to try again. had a few things from 3F but was really hoping for my fantome fix

Have never had an issue here in Houston, would be happy to receive and send on any packages that are bound for the west coast through LAX
The problem is that you don't know which packages will go through LAX, and it's a minority of shipments. If someone wants to be safe they can always send it to somewhere on the east coast with a vanishingly small chance of going through LAX, but I think you're going to pay far more money doing than that having the occasional rejected box shipped twice.
