The Aunis they served at Quintessence basically tasted like fruit yoghurt, not a fan. I'm not opening my bottles any time soon.

Agree on the HF stuff, I expected a more. I was fun to drink some outside tapped in plastic cups though.
@ Aunis: yup, but still better than that Carignan they are serving in the bar right now. Damn, that is nowhere near last year's batch.

One of my highlights of Quintessence was actually the fresh Vig, I like it way more than last year's.

@HF: I thought the BBRC Flora was genius, but yeah, the other ones were quite underwhelming. I am not as big a fan of Arthur as I probably should be (I prefer Florence and Anna). The Ermitage event was awesome, though the beers there were poured way too cold.

EDIT:
At least he’s the nicest and most affable brewer in the world.
Have you met Andreas Gänstaller?

Wow really? I thought this batch of Carignan was amazing compared to last year's. 16 was all Carignan jam, this year's actually showed some lambic complexity. It was a highlight on my trip last month.

whoops, my bad. Seems like 2015 was the Carignan I liked most. But yeah, I think I also preferred 2016 over this new one.

It's quite amazing how opinions can vary on these things.

A little warning for anyone who may have some DHVL 20th. Just bought a couple bottles from the source and brought them back in my luggage. After unpacking and setting it on the floor, I woke up last night to a loud boom and found glass shards and beer everywhere. Quite sad since I was really hoping to save one of them for a few more years(it's my birthday bottle as well). Put the other one in the fridge, so hopefully it doesn't explode before my bday on the 17th...

Enjoyed a bottle of that DHVL 20th back in March. Pretty tasty but certainly one of the most over carbonated beers I've had.

How much does DHVL 20th cost at the source?

Inspired by pastry bros, Tilquin have a maple syrup gueuze on at the EBF

If you want it to go, I believe now you have to buy the whole set and thats like 400€. Gaseous Clay can correct me.
When I was there earlier this week, 20th and Goedele’s were both available to go separately. 20th was 30€ and had a buy 5 get one free deal. I got 6 for 150€.

An old tasting group friend of mine from Missoula was coming through town last night on a trip so we decided to open some bottles. Here’s two of three bottles we opened (not shown was a 2011 3F OG 37,5).

8 March 1997 37,5cl bottle. The cork was incredibly difficult to get out but it did eventually come out in a few pieces but none of it ended up in the bottle so that’s a plus. Still a fair amount of carbonation left with a nose wet grass, green apple, and maybe a hint of acetic acid. That acidity doesn’t carry through to the taste though. Taste-wise this has held up well. No signs of oxidation, very grainy with loads of deep damp woody funk, some mint, and a tart finish. This isn’t the brightest or crispest bottle (no citrus notes) but it’s very well rounded and balanced with a chewy, creamy mouthfeel. This is the second 1997 I’ve had (the other was a 75cl at the 3 Fonteinen Restaurant-Café) and I’m convinced that this is one of the best geuzes to age.

Batch one Intense Red that I brought back from Toer de Geuze 2013 (the trip that started Lambic.Info) and the last bottle I have, bottled November 2012. I remember this being very flat when it came out but this one has a rich, creamy carbonation. This is simply described as deep almond and cinnamon - nose and mouth. Literally nothing else. It is very evident why this was named Intense Red. If you’re sitting on any of these do yourself a favor and open one!

Right, thanks and missed out again. Had an amazing bottle share the night before and I'd rather have a bottle share then special bottles anytime!

Yeah I quickly got over it as well, was only really excited about the 50N and would feel like a ****** spending 150$ to get a few bottles shipped overseas.

Anybody that can enlighten me on my best course of action for an Etre box that LAX customs sent back? Have ordered several times before without incident. Wondering if my only option is to wait for them to get it back, pay another hundo to ship it again to a friend not on the west coast, and then to me. Thanks for any words of experience
