I picked up my box set yesterday. Since a friend of mine had been waiting in line for some other bottles and was ahead, I gave him my proof of purchase. They wouldn't give it to him unless I went there and showed them my ID.

Interesting seeing as that's the opposite of what they said online. This should get exciting with everyone at Quintessence tomorrow trying to pick up sets and hand over tickets for friends that aren't there

I’ve picked up yesterday for folks that I’m proxying for. You have to show your ID and sign for the package. She said to have a record of pickup in case you basically walked off with the package instead of proxying it.

this makes sense, only that I didn't sign anything, and neither did the guy who tried to get my box. Maybe they don't ask that if it's yourself who picks up.

Did it sell out or did they pull it down. Saw it was at 350 sets left and told a friend about it and an hour later the link was dead.

So it seems that Magic Lambic is just Zwanze 16 (or as close to replicating it as they can). What was the hill farmstead collab? Did that not premier?

Magic Lambic is 80/20 Raspberry blueberry with vanilla

Right, that’s almost identical to Zwanze 16 if my memory serves me correctly.

When Hill was announced as the guest brewery of this years’ Quintessence everyone speculated that the barrel(s) with the HF logo would be both a collab beer, and premiering at the event. It seems that it is not premiering though, unless I’m missing something from my e-snooping

1986 Framboise = 75% framboise, 25% schaerbeekse kriek, 0.05% vanilla
2016 Zwanze = 82% framboise, 18% bilberry*, 0.05% vanilla
2018 Magic Lambic = 80% framboise, 20% bilberry, 0.05% vanilla

*due to schaerbeekse shortage

Right, so almost identical to Zwanze 16...

My question remains. Did a hill collab premier?
People speculated Magic Lambic would be it but it appears not.

Yes, it's called HILL FARMESTEAD, glassware only:

a couple of D'Aunis

The Aunis they served at Quintessence basically tasted like fruit yoghurt, not a fan. I'm not opening my bottles any time soon.

Agree on the HF stuff, I expected a more. I was fun to drink some outside tapped in plastic cups though.

Hate to be the one to say it but I wasn't overwhelmed by any of the Hill Farmstead beers, they were nice but, that's all.

If I were a brewer going to quintessence, I'm bringing my A game, and I don't think that was it.

Completly agree!!!

Shaun Hill is easily the best brewer in the world. There's honestly no one else remotely in his class, in my estimation. These beers are so much better than anything else I've had, in their styles, and this is true across so many different types of beer. It's just unbelievable the degree to which I enjoy these beers more than other representations of the same style. I don't say this lightly either. It would be convenient if I didn't need to drive a thousand miles for my favorite beers, but that's just the reality of the situation.

The thing is also that most of these have been quite available lately, I even had some HF in a taco place in Copenhagen... They brought mostly their core range (which I quite like) and two more special beers, which were both good but not their best. I also really like HF beers, but for an event such as this where Cantillon is bringing out crazy stuff I'd expected a little more.

Well there is only so much Art and Ann, that's about all you guys were missing that could have been better.

To each their own. I think they make some great beers, and across many styles, but there are definitely stouts, ipas, wild ales and saisons I prefer from other brewers. Was disappointed with a couple of the beers he brought even. Table Dorothy was quite nice.
At least he’s the nicest and most affable brewer in the world.

And he doesn’t make lambic.

There is much more than Art or Ann to showcase. Would have loved for some hoppy or dark beers to break up all the acid. After pairing blueberry/vanilla LPF with anchovy gelato, the glasses of Flora and Arthur were completely lost on me. Flora BBRC was quite nice though.

Each and every time this gets posted, till the end of time, I will belly laugh at it.

The above is a meme. JulianB posted it a while ago and has been getting ridiculed for it ever since.
