Loads of lemony funk and just a hint of vinegar, which doesn't detract at all. A bit of a heavy mouthfeel but there's enough carb to keep it from being too much. I can't put the glass down.

Well lmk if you want to come to a tasting or do any trades or anything! Might be help with the Alvarado cans, but it depends on what you're looking for. (If you end up going down to Sante, Aptos BBQ actually tends to have most of the recent releases available to go, it can be more reliable than up here where stuff tends to sell out.)
Thanks, much appreciated! Though to clarify, I'm a CA native so the only fancy **** I have to trade is a 2015 West Ashely... very exciting, I know. ;)

Huh, for some reason I thought you lived abroad.

I meant to post this previously and you reminded me, I opened a 2016 Golden Blend this week and it ought to come with a warning, the cork exploded into my ceiling and it started gushing. It had been stored at 55* then moved into a fridge for about an hour, so I guess it could've been colder...

The beer itself was good but not really what I was expecting. Like this one I got a ton of lemon in it, and it seemed oddly funk-free for being a golden blend. It might do something with age, but I'm not particularly counting on it.

Hoping for the best but had a similar 'this doesn't taste like GB yet' experience with the new batch

Had a fantastic day in Belgium today. Starting at 10am at Grote Dorst. Then to De Heeren for 7 hours of eating and drinking, then finally to Moeder (fountains) where we were able to try some bottles blended by Tommie Sejf . Everyone we met was incredibly friendly and generous. As close to a perfect beer day as I could imagine.

Yeah, building up a decent social media following using copious amounts hashtags so we can put our name to good use for things like BfNA is just turrible. Also, Instagram maxes out at 30 hashtags sooo yeah.
More making fun of the fact of how similar most hashtags are. Beer, beers, craftbeer, belgianbeer... I guess it just seems over the top for those of us that don't use it.

Yeah fair, but #beer has about 4.4 million hashes whereas #beers has about 2 million so it'll sort of depend on who's using what and how. I hate that I know this and that I've looked at the most effective sets of hashtags to use for beer posts, but that's the game. I've enjoyed scrolling through #lambic many times on Instagram just liking cool stuff.

My favorite was the Joose offer. They going to pay for expedited international shipping and use cold packs to get them there?
If so, I would consider this trade, not because I care about the beer, but just to make them go through the hassle and the money, and for posting such stupidity.

I'll be swinging by Akkurat in a few weeks, but I'm not too familiar with limited edition goozies or older lambic vintages in general. Any tips from the experts? Already know to seek out Soleil de Minuit and Bokkereyder if they have it. Also saw somebody mention Hanssens 1998 in an older thread. I get the feeling I'm going to have to spend a few hours with that menu...

(Any chance they carry Zwanze vintages, or is that only a Cantillon brewery thing? Last time I was at Cantillon I didn't know a thing about beer and didn't even try a single bottle from their reserve list... :()
I'd probably skip that one tbh. Can't imagine it being cheap and it's by far one of my least favorite bottles I've had.

Absolutely loved that Mandarin a few weeks ago. inb4 #notlambic

Its not really that expensive. I cant remember how much exactly but I dont think it was more than ~600sek (~60euro). Had the 2015 version this past august. I do not recommend skipping it, its ******* great. Or skip it and leave more for my next trip :D

How does the reservation system with Etre work? I've always filled a box to get the most out of shipping and just shipped it.

If you reserve stuff, you pay now and then they stay in your account? Can you check the weight of your box and experiment with what you've reserved and what's available as you can when just ordering to ship now? Just curious as there are often bottles that pop up that interest me but I'm not in the position to fill up a full box at the time.
