I'm not paying 2x the amount for A&G. The magic happens at blending, not when brewing a basic ass wort. 3F's not paying for 3rd party wort. I assume they can make wort cheaper than they can buy it. The price for A&G should be in line with regular OG.
Although that is a good point, I think the idea is that they can only brew so much in a season, so since all the batches of gueuze get their wort, they can only make one blend of 100% 3F beer per year. And since B1 was a lot better than the normal OG, I'm willing to pay extra for a couple bottles.

Agreed. The first few blends in the old bottles were (slightly overcarbonated) magic. Got a 750 of the OG to compare alongside new and old A&G

What's the general opinion on De Cam's recent redcurrant and blueberry releases and the new batch of nectarine? I know there was a lot of bottle variation in the first batch of nectarine although I loved all the ones I tried.

A&G is in brown bottles? Any reason behind this or did 3F run out of green bottles the day it was bottled?

...except they make multiple blends of it per year. There were at least 5 bottlings in 2015, 4 bottlings in 2016, and at least 7 bottlings so far in 2017. So when you say "B1 was a lot better than the normal OG" you likely aren't talking about the first batch unless you had a 750ml bottled on October 6, 2015. Moreover, can you (or anyone) really say that each of these bottlings is better than normal OG? Can anyone really even say that A&G is consistently better than normal OG?

That argument could be made for everything. Is 3F OG really 3x as good as CR and boon? 3F is using some of their wort in the blends. I think it is.

Let people spend their money on whatever they want. If you don't think A&G is special and worth the cost just pass on it and get whatever beer makes you happy.

3F has a lot invested in the new space, new marketing, etc – much more then they've ever had before – so diversifying their portfolio with a new year round release is a pretty logical step, and we're going to see a lot more of that from them in the next couple of years. A/G makes sense to promote their own product and getting back to having enough of their own product to blend again, and beer geeks are eating it up. Is it better? Who knows. Worth double the price? Debatable. It's certainly not "rare" in a bottle count sense.

It's intentional. There's no running out of the massive amount of screen printed bottles they have now.

Yes but this is TalkBeer, where you're a newmoney shitlord if you pay more than $10 for ANY lambic, cause that's what it cost 10 years ago when nobody cared about it. Look at my old etre receipt! Kids these days!

I should clarify this. The brown bottles are for any 3F beer that is 100% 3F lambic, so this includes fruit. The green bottles are for any 3F beer that contains portions of wort from other breweries.

New Nectarine def not as fruit forward as B1. I like B1 better, but B2 has plenty of character of its own so YMMV.

Have not opened Bosbessen or Trosbessen yet. Online hive mind reports sulphur from the Bosbessen so I will decant and let sit 30-45 mins. Will report.

Karel has says to let those sit unopened for a while on Facebook.

Wow forgive my ignorance I had no idea. I really should have checked the old SeaWatchman bottle log. Honestly I got a few bottles when it was first released and just assumed. FWIW I've had A&G 3 times and regular OG countless times and preferred A&G.
I agree with your sentiment though. Basically 2x the cost? That's why I bought 2. They can be special occasion gueuze!

Did a blind tasting last night to settle this debate (for myself at least), and threw in a 109 for fun.

Vat 109 - 4/18/2016 bottle date
3F OG - 10/21/1015
3F A&G - 10/7/2015

Was able to fairly quickly guess (accurately) the 109, as the cognac does shine through, although it's pretty subtle. This ended up being my favorite of the 3, just great balance and complexity (sorry I'm not good with words).

Then after a bit of tasting back and forth of the 3Fs, one seemed a bit brighter, more lemony, and also a tad more acidic. This ended up being the A&G. I actually preferred the OG blind as it just seemed a bit more balanced and well rounded.

Then after revisiting the rest of the each bottle later in the evening (and at ~50 degrees instead of 55), the 109 still won out, but the A&G didn't seem quite as acidic and now came across as slightly more complex than the OG.

Verdict, who the **** knows. They were all delicious, with the OG and the A&G being pretty damn similar in the end (probably not that surprising since the only difference is a bit of the wort). Or maybe I just suck at lambic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah defintley a bummer $34 before shipping for rose thanks, but no thanks. I guess we should be happy that we can actual order Cantillon, but at the same time it's a bitter pill to have to swallow.

ugh. I hope etre does not follow suit with secondary pricing (more so then they already do of course, which doesn't seem to bad of a markup to me)
