Has anybody tried different bottle dates of A&G side by side? Blind?

Also, I'm going to try this with 'regular' OG mixed in blind. My thought though is if its 3 glasses (AG 10/7 , AG 10/6, and OG '15) it might be easy to pick out the outlier (OG '15). So I was thinking it should be four glasses; AG 10/7 , AG 10/6, OG '15, and ??? What should the fourth glass be? I guess a different bottle date OG '15 would be the best candidate.

Thanks

the fourth bottle should be golden blend.

Have all of the 37,5cl and 75cl bottle dates been released at this point?

I don't know. The ones I have so far are from Belgium distribution, waiting on bottles direct from 3F, and others from Spain.

I have 750 from 10/6, and 375 from 10/7 so far.

Seems like the 375ml 12/10 bottles might be noticeably different bottled two months later? Maybe not.

So I know all of you were waiting with baited breath, but my lazy ass finally got around to drinking my parking lot speed aged Cuvée René.

Both bottles purchased at the same location, same bottling code. One left in my car in North Carolina(ball sweat capital of the world) for a week. Both chilled for a week and the brought up to a proper serving temp. Did the side by side blind, although there was a little giveaway when one of the corks shot out like a rocket only 30 seconds after I uncapped it.

They look identical, but both were way over carbonated, one more than the other. The speed aged bottle had a deeper earthiness to the aroma, while the regular bottle was more light citrus. Taste was identical, although hard to tell because both bottles were overcarbed.

So ya...no significant difference. They are just tasty...and now I am enjoying them with cheese.

tl;dr
Cuvée René and cheese are tasty

Should have left in the trunk for a least a month.

That **** isn´t going to tell until after a few years.....probably.

The point was to see if shipping lambic during summer affects it adversely or at all. We all know that bottles can leak or explode, but not so sure if they actually taste different from a relatively short exposure to heat and agitation. The heated bottle didn't leak, but it certainly was ready to burst and was more carbonated. Doubt that glass would have lasted a month in my car without shattering.

I believe they are saying it now should have been aged for a few years before drinking to see how this exposure would change how the beer develops

That's not really what you're worried about with heat exposure. A few days at elevated temps shouldn't affect the long-term condition of the microbes much (though someone like duketheredeemer would know better than I), but it sure can produce off-flavors from high-activation-energy reactions, or stressing the microbes into throwing off bad compounds. I generally think that lambic's diversity is uniquely suited to protect against this, but it's interesting to see a real test.

so, at which one are you going to be enjoying this year's Zwanze Day on October 1?

For me, probably Erzbierschof, as always, although I am in Berlin at a conference until the 29th and might just stay there...
