I have two Grainfather Conical Fermenters and the manufacture recommends dumping yeast and sediment every 2-3 days. Experience with these fermenters shows when fermenting ales if this is not done the dump valve has a very hard time getting rid of the yeast and sediment.

Can lager yeast be dumped from the fermenter every 2-3 days without negatively impacting the fermentation process?

Yeast that has dropped plays no role whatsoever in fermentation or maturation and should be dumped as soon as possible, more so if by not doing it you risk clogging the rather small Grainfather dump valve.

Thanks for the quick response. Wasn't sure if lager yeast should be treated differently because of it being a bottom fermenting yeast.
