Kegerator on a college budget

Hey guys so after sucessfully doing all grain and putting it in a corny keg this summer im back up in college and wanted to make a kegerator that could fit two corny kegs at a time. I know ideally i would get a chest freezer but due to space, cost, and power outlets i think i need to get a mini fridge and convert it myself. Does anyone have any refrigerators that they could recommend that would be able to fit two corny kegs and a small CO2 tank? Lower price would be better.

You know, a small chest freezer off Craigslist will probably be cheaper. In a college town, I imagine a mini fridge is pretty hard to find at a reasonable price. A chest freezer could be easier since most college age kids aren't using them to stock up on food etc...

The smallest chest freezers (3.5 cubic feet or so) don't have that much larger of a footprint than a mini fridge. Build a collar on it and you have a sweet little kegerator that might even hold 3 or 4 kegs later. Two won't be enough after awhile. Especially once your neighbors find out there is home brew at your place.

I understand the small footprint needs, but I second that if you can, find a small freezer to convert. Cheaper. I made mine for less than 100 including 65 for freezer. Smaller should be cheaper

The cheapest kegerator I ever had was an apartment fridge. Bigger than a dorm fridge, definitely. BUT, it held three kegs and a co2 and I think I paid about $25 for it. With a fridge, you don't need a temperature controller or anything like that. Either just use picnic taps inside the fridge, or if finances permit, add a couple of shanks and faucets right in the door. It's cheap.

Dorm fridges will go for about $75 or so, but they've got the freezer on top which requires some bending. Even then, I'm not sure you'll get two kegs and a co2 tank inside.
