Hello, I made my first brew a couple of weeks ago. I made a huge mistake! The guy who sold me the brewing kit told me to use all the irish moss (2 tbsp) I latter found out it was a lot!!!!. My beer is been in bottle for 1 week, I'm going to try it tomorrow. My question is, will the excess of irish moss impart some off flavor? If it does, should i dump the batch?

Thanks

Nah, should be fine... That's not a ton or anything. I've heard of people putting .5lb in by mistake, that will screw a batch. But I've heard people use anywhere from .5tbsp to 2tbsp in batches.

I'd say your fine. If your really worried, brew the same batch with only the moss amount changed.

You'll have more beer of a style you like and you'll KNOW how it effects your brew using your methods.

Don't dump it. Even if its not perfect, too much or to little,(or none at all) irish moss isn't a batch killer. Its a tweeking ingredient.

Irish moss won't do to much at that amount. I use gelatin in secondary. 1/2tsp and do it after your fermentation is done. It will make it so you can tell the time off your watch threw the beer bottle.

I use 1/2 tsp at the end of the boil of a 6.25 gallon batch (Last 10 Min) It acts as a fining agent and helps coagulate the proteins in the boil so they drop out to the bottom of the kettle. This process helps clear the beer going into the primary. Assuming you get good break there should be no issue with taste

You are fine. I would give your beer a bit more time though. If you do try, it will likely improve with time.
