The hard drive magnets are actually pretty weak overall. Generally I'd recommend just spending a couple bucks on some decent rare earth magnets... they're extremely cheap.

Where is Vman?

Maybe time for a search party? Last I remember, he got back from a camping trip and said he had a bunch of work to do once he got home. Haven't heard from him since.

V-man, you out there??? Please check in and tell us you are okay.

Speaking of search parties. Seems like we've been getting called out for searches or rescues on a weekly basis lately. Just got called out an hour ago for an overdue hiker. Had another on Saturday. I rarely go to the searches anymore. Hard to commit 3 days in the backcountry when I've got a pregnant wife, three kids, work and school. Rescues I try to make though. Typically they can fly us in pretty close to where we need to be and it's a quick ordeal.

Today is about the laziest day I have had in years. Slept in to about noon, made breakfast, took a nap. It is a beautiful sunny day but I just feel like being inert today. Opened all the windows, house is warm and quiet, perfect for napping.

SWMBO comes home tomorrow evening so I need to enjoy the quiet and solitude while I can. She is the antithesis of lazy. Sometimes I feel like I should pull a Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, chase her in a helicopter, and shoot her in the ass with a tranqulizer dart. I think that is the only way I could get her to slow down.

The beer will be awesome when you can have it Stauffbier. I am drinking some now and it is quite good :D

Nine more days to go? Good luck! How are you feeling (other than thirsty?)

I can't wait! Lucky for me I ended up with a 7 day antibiotic instead of the 10 I was expecting. So only 5 more days after today. I figure I might have a beer at the end of the day Labor Day.

I'm feeling pretty good. I feel a little pain here and there, but nothing like the toothaches I used to have. I was able to eat a little easier today. Still only eating soft foods, but that's better than just soup.

One day at a time!

Thanks guys!

I hope you all have been doing well.

Breaking out my benelli September first for dove hunting. It's been a year since she's been used. Of couse I oil her every few months

No reason to oil it every few months. Unless you're like me and just can't help but admiring her soft, smooth, flowing lines. Running her fingers along her length and caressing....

Whoa.

Perhaps you could apply topically? Is the pipeline full enough for a bath? :D

True, but they were free 99.

If you decide to do that, make sure you record everything. The money from selling the royalties might even pay for the divorce lawyer. :p

Have you discussed the other women with your shotgun?

Do you eat doves? TN just approved a sand hill crane season. 400 three permit packets. I can't figure out why anyone would want to shoot a crane. Since we don't have any hogs right now, I was thinking I might have to go shoot a deer this year.

I'll have one or two. I give them to my future brother in law. I'm not into hunting cranes. Would they be good eatin? That's crazy.

I just looked up what to do with a dove. Does he just take the breasts or does he actually pluck them? I found a tutorial on dressing a whole dove with pics and it's pretty funny, but seem worth it. They look tasty.

Thanks to the google, I know now that apparently some people do eat sandhill cranes. I had no idea. Sounds hard to cook, easy to over do.

We definitely eat dove. Piles of them. Personally I like to breast them out and chicken fry in beer batter.

Bacon wrapped and grilled is delicious too.

Yeah, marinated in teriyaki & Italian dressing and wrapped in bacon cooked over charcoal. Yum.

Quail season soon, too. Should be a good year. We had lots of spring rain in the desert.

Quail hunting is my passion. Both of my upland guns are chambered in Improved/Improved geared toward the close quarters quail shooting we have here.

There is no hunting, in my opinion, that rivals walking a thick wood with quail blowing out and startling you to death.

Back in 98-99 Had SandHill crane season tastes in between turkey and pheasant drumsticks are 18-24 inches looks like something out of a 1million BC movie

Do you/can you/should you make stock from the rest of the carcass?

I know it's going to sound wasteful, but I typically just pop the breast out. There is so little meat on the rest of the bird that it is really not worth it to pluck them out.
