I can taste the difference between Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Light. I am not crazy about any of them, and I would have taken what is free. But I don't think you could fool me with them.

i'm in the same boat. i'm pretty sure i could tell the difference. but its all mostly fizzy and yellow. i seem to think i like miller less (but not much less). blind taste test? i don't know. i like to think that i could tell. i could tell between coke and pepsi (i like coke better), but they were a lot closer than i thought in a blind test.

point being, i would have drank the which ever was the freest and been stoked to have free beer. guy is a dick.

I would argue that the Miller Lites triple hops brewed beer is by far the superior beer in the worst category of beer EVER. LMAO

My job puts me in restaurant and bar kitchens every day. Several managers told me that when they occasionally run out of one light American lager they will just replace it with another. Nobody ever complains. Since then I started asking others. Most places do this and nobody ever notices a difference.

Depends. I'd certainly say it's usually the case, but I have become pretty sensitive recently to the difference between beers brewed with corn, and those brewed with rice. And I find the corn a bit off-putting, in all honesty.

Generally I will have a soft drink instead when the only thing available is BMC, so it's not something I pride myself on being able to differentiate, and I definitely don't have any particular horse in the race. In fact, I only ended up trying Bud Light a few years ago, whereas my family has always been Coors Light drinkers, so if I had any bias in which one to prefer, it SHOULD be in favor of the corn lager.

This past Monday my in-laws came to visit. We went out to dinner at the local Abuelos, where I reconnoitered the tap situation, and ordered a Modelo Especiale draft, as did my brother in-law. When I (finally) got my mug, it was brown - dark brown. And it tasted strangely like Dos Equis Amber. I informed the beer wench and she toddled off to tell the bartender. She returned and said that the bartender knew with no doubt that we were drinking Modelo Especiale. She was kind enough to bring us each another and not charge us for either one, so I left it alone. But it was definitely a facepalm moment.

i'm not saying that if someone switched one on me (especialy if it were my first beer of the day) i would notice, or care. but i do notice, say at a cook out, if all of my friends brought different yellow fizz; when changing from one to another. some (maybe a lot) of that may be attributed to it looking different and me expecting it to be different, different marketing, whatever. but i think in a blind taste test i could pick out a few brands. i would say at least coors light, miller, and pbr. if i wasn't able to distinguish between brands i think i would at least be able to tell if the next beer was a different beer or the same one. more to the point, they all taste pretty freakin close and i wouldn't care anyway.

I agree, but it seems the OP made his HB available to those to wanted it as well. When I have people over, I tell them what's on tap, let them know they're welcome to as much of it as they want and that they're welcome to bring anything else they'd prefer. It won't hurt my feelings it they don't like my beer.

I did make my HB and purchased microbrews available to anyone who wanted some. He did not partake. I asked everyone at work what they (and their spouses) drink beforehand and was told "whatever, anything light". I agree, I should have done a blind taste test......I guarantee that he would have gotten one correct - my homebrew!!!!!!!!!

I know exactly what you mean! Light American lagers are all so very similar that you really can't tell the difference between any of them. I mean you can tell the difference between the use of corn and rice but it's so slight, if you're not a craft drinker I doubt you have the pallet to do that anyways.
