My younger cousin told me that earlier this summer he went camping with some friends. Instead of using a pot or any other vessel to heat up some pork and beans, the put the cans right in the fire. They had a couple million Bud Lights and fell asleep in their tents (one guy fell asleep in a camp chair).

The cans exploded.

The guy in the camp chair had the rude awakening of 350-degree beans in a molten tomato sauce splashing his arms, legs and one cheek (his hat shielded his eyes and face from most of the beans). Of course they all come out to see what is going on. It looks like a crime scene with beans everywhere and a buddy jumping around shouting expletives. When they figure out what had happened, still good and drunk they start laughing at the poor fellow's misfortune. The laughter dies down when they hear a hissing sound coming from the fire. They all turn to see the other can go off, getting them all.

I am imagining this and replaying it in my head and I laugh so hard each time. What a bunch of wingnuts.

Oh dear god. Three people just stopped and looked in my office reading this.

That is awesome.

Good thing they didn't eat it! the cans are lined with some kind of easilly melted plastic.(THEY DIDN'T OPEN THE CANS FIRST????? what flaming *******)

I just hurt myself laughing... OMG

I cook beans directly in the fire too... BUT with the CAN OPEN! What a bunch of idiots LOL

I'm still picturing a tidal wave of red hot beans and my laughing fits keep coming and going. They are lucky they didnt get hit with can shrapnel... but napalm pork-and-beans isnt much better.

I can tell y'all why it's so funny:

  1. Youngsters and their ignorance -- we've all been there, so we're kinda laughing at ourselves too. ;)
  2. It doesn't sound like anyone was seriously hurt. :mug:
  3. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt; then it HILARIOUS!!! :cross:

Speaking of young and stupid. Anyone that was ever 15 years old can probably picture his "gang" doing something like this...

my renters learned that trick this past fall when they started throwing bud light cans into the campfire they had going in my back yard until they blew up. Luckily noone got splashed. I am still a little perturbed though that there is a camp fire circle sitting dead in the middle of the back yard.
