That's pretty amazing. Almost three tanker trucks worth of Apfelwein have been brewed. Or enough to fill my 900 sq ft. apartment four feet deep.

Bottling my 5 on friday.. i added molasses, brown rice sugar and honey with the dextrose... so:

15,366 + MrPeaches's 5 (15,371) + my 5= 15,376

This is approximately 70 tons... Seems Mr.Wort has created a phenomenon..
So i figure, either Ed works for the american assosiation for apples, or it tastes really good... guess i'l know the answer in 3.5 weeks

Let's do the math here...

15,376 gallons x 8.34 lbs/gallon = 128,312.72 lbs of apfelwein

128,312.72 lbs x 1 ton/2,000 lbs = 64.15636 tons

15,376 gallons x 1 drum/54.5 gallons (incl. a bit of headspace) = 282.128 drums

Assuming ~$22/5 gallon batch...

15,376 gallons x $22/5 gallons = $67,654.40 spent by members of this forum making apfelwein.

Wow...those are some pretty hefty statistics!

Edit: HOLY CRAP!!! That's ALL from just the last THREE YEARS!!! We're a drunken bunch of idiots!!

OK first try at this. Add my batch in. Now I cant wait to try it.
15,391+5= Total is ... 15,396

Back there in 2008 I did a 1 gal test batch and loved it. Then a 12 gallion batch after that:ban:.....that puts in up to 15462.

Wow I wonder if that's a gas truck full yet?

We ship tank wagons out from the plant I work at about once or twice a day, at about 6,000 gallons apiece. So we're somewhere between 2 and 3 tanker trucks full of apfelwein. :cross: :D :drunk:

just popped one open that i just bottled on friday... i couldnt wait.. first batch and all, and i tell you... listen to edwort, 2 weeks into fermenting.. assemble another batch.. fine stuff.. really really awsome find....
it will change your life... expectancy!:ban:

Even scarier number; from pressing (with just a small press, so not the most efficient) we get about 1gal/18lbs of apples so 15,548 x 18 = 279,864lbs of apples.

Since everyone says I will regret not starting a second batch..... I put another one in the carboy today.....
New Tally is 15,548+5=15,553

I made my first batch last night, and came across this thread completely by accident (searched for something else and this was in the results... weird).

15,553 + 5 = 15,558
