how do you malt grain

thats the question I have lots of Mates on farms here in oz that say thay can geve me wheat barley and a heep of other grain for free I just need to know how to malt them your help please
 
You'll need a controlled environment to start germination, and a kiln to dry and stop the process in. All in all, I doubt it will be worth your while, as I'm sure you'll get a wide flux of modification levels, SRM, and water content.

I'd stick to buying malt from a professional maltster.

That said, there's nothing wrong with using small amts of unmalted grain as an adjunct here and there (unless you're brewing in Bavaria).
