This is my first attempt at home brewing. I've got a honey porter extract kit from Midwest in the primary. Its been in a week today.
Took a hydrometer reading today and it was roughly 1.018. SG was 1.055.
The brew tasted thin, watery, and highly alcoholic. It was slightly carbonated.
I know it's very early but I was kind of disappointed in the flavor, body, mouthfeel.
Is this normal for a brew at this stage? Will it get more robust with age? How long should I let it go in primary before bottling? Im not planning on moving to a secondary.
Thanks for your help in advance, tried searching the forums but couldn't find a whole lot of info on porters.
Maybe the watery taste could be my taste got used to the S. Nevada tropical IPAs from last night?
