anyone ever had any problems with WLP001. I pitched the yeast right at 70 degrees last night around 1030 pm it is now 430 and I have yet to see any kraussen or airlock movement, my temp is right at 71 right now. I took a gravity ready last night at 1.051 and will check again in a couple of weeks... just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. This is also the first time my hops have settled to the bottom of the primary? whats going on...

give it time. Can take up to 72 hours for fermentation to kick into high gear...

Why do you have hops (leaf?) in your primary? If you are dryhopping, its typical to wait until after the bulk of fermentation is finished because otherwise the escaping CO2 will carry away the hops aroma.

just always had the yeast go crazy with 12 hours... was just wondering what was going an ile give it more time

I brewed two 5 gallon batches last night, a pumpkin ale, and a base for a fruit beer. I of course made a starter for each one (1.5 Liter starters left on a stirplate for about 36 hours). Lag time was approximately 6 hours, and they are going strong, WLP001 is a very good yeast.

okay almost 24 hours after pitching the yeast and am now starting to see a little movement in the airlock... thanks everyone
