I just ordered 500g of each of the above and am excited to try them.

Has anyone used Hallertauer Amarillo, Styrian Wolf, or Mistral? If so, tell us about the results!

Ok well they are on the way from Germany right now.

When I use them I will make a thread in the Ingredients section.

I never heard of Hallertau Amarillo, but I've used Styrian Wolf and Styrian Dragon ( 105/220 ) and they are pretty underwhelming. I mean, they are fruity on their own, but not like US or AUS/NZ hops.

I would however brew smash beers with these hops, to really know what kind of aroma and flavour they provide.

Yeah, allegedly someone licensed it and is growing it.

My plan is a standard IPA bittered with Chinook but with the relevant hop at 30, whirlpool, and dry hop.

Cool. Amarillo goes well with Chinook, even when 50/50. I like it anyway.

If you are planning on brewing smash beers, skip the bittering addition with Chinook and go all single hop. Add maybe a little at 30 minutes and start hopping for real in the last 15 minutes + whirlpool. That will get you the bitterness you want and lots of aroma and flavour.

If you mixing the hops, I would use Chinook in there, as it plays well with Amarillo and it's an overall, great hop, which balances nicely those fruity flavours.

Cheers!

I use hop extract for bittering addition in hop testing beers. I’m mostly interested what the new hops bring to the table as very late or whirlpool additions. Actually I use those hop shots for reliable bitterness in most of my beers.

Tomorrow I'm brewing a light IPA of 88% Weyermann Pale Ale, 10% Weyermann light wheat, and 2% Weyermann CaraRed.

Hitting 20-ish liters with CTZ for bittering and then 53g Hallertau Amarillo at 15, 60g at 20min hopstand, and 60g dry hop.
