Howdy, new to the board and to brewing. I got married in October and a couple of my buddies brought me a kit for a present. I was finally able to get everything going in December. Currently I have a Shiner Bock clone in the bottle (what else would a Texan brew first?) and an Abita Purple Haze clone in the secondary.

I'm looking forward to participating and learning all I can :mug:

**spurs clanging** There's only one Hoss in these here parts, and it's .......... um.... that guy over there. I know the drill, don't mess with Texas! :D

Welcome.
This is the best place to learn. Between a couple of books - How to Brew and The Complete Joy ... and this forum - and a little time .. I actually learned to brew and brew well.

Texas Rocks! = And The Austin - people add the class :) Just kidding around.

Yeah, they're off to a good start :) Mrs. TexasSpartan has decided she doesn't like the smell of wort and boiling hops, so she'll leave when I'm brewing and I get a little time to myself. Of course, she won't have any problem drinking the finished product...

Nice to see so many other Texans 'round these parts.

welcome from another texan.

and since she doesn't like the smell its a good excuse to get more equipment to do AG and move the brewing outdoors. :mug: just recently moved my brewing outdoors for the same reason and have to say i like it a whole lot more then brewing on the stove top

The objection to the smell is one of the excuses I used. That and being given a free keg. My Banjo burner just got here today. Now I just have to cut the top off the keg and wait for the fittings to come in. I hope to try my first AG batch by next week.

And a big welcome from Houston.

Just started brewing myself, well back in September. It's a blast. Let us know how that Shiner turns out.

We need more Homebrewers in Texas for sure.. Maybe we can get new laws to pass so we have less restriction on starting up a microbrewies. I envy those Northwesterners...
Oregon and Washington is not only hop country.... it is microbrew country too.

Cracked open my first one the other night after just over two weeks in the bottle. It was pretty good, but I have a feeling it be better in another couple weeks.
