Was thinking if anybody tried to make cider, apple jack, or ice cider - methanol free. I'm wondering is there's a method that could be something between making calvados . Would methanol evaporate if left for prolonged period in open containers? cheers

Part of the discussion included the assertion that methanol boils at 65C, but ethanol boils at 79C. So if that's true, and you can heat your apple jack up to 65C and keep it below 79C, you'll boil off some of the methanol, while still maintaining the "good" alcohol.
I don't drink all that much at one time, so I don't worry about methanol, but I think it would be interesting to try the above method and see if the taste of your beverage is changed.
