(one thing that puts me at ease is that I've read on here a few times that when people go for big beers their efficiency drops 10%, don't crush my dreams!)

I have experienced this several times.

Man, I'm so glad I scheduled to be off today. I feel like ****. I'm just not use to drinking Real Beer I guess. I just sent Barron an email talking about getting the club going, we talk about it often but never had a core group of guys.

It was good meeting the new guys. Matt, your Belgian Pale Ale was really good. I woke up and told my girlfriend about it this morning. Felipe, your Red Ale sucked on all accounts.

Agreed. It wasn't red and it tasted almost exactly like poolewater. I just brought it to show you I wasn't kidding about the water taste

wasn't too bad as long as you chugged it. :D

IIPA is a new page for you, my friend.

anybody going tailgating tomorrow? I'll be there.

Gonna be making a lot of ipas and apas in the near future.

Iipa should be awesome. 5 hours after pitching I got home and it's crazy already. What's the temptange for this yeast anyway?

I'm probably going to the tailgate tomorrow with alex and maybe jon too (the two guys with me last night)

and this is what I woke up to.

keep in mind I did use fermcap.

sorry for the bad pic

it blew off sometime around last night Im betting. I hope it doesn't get infected or anything.

I've never had an airlock blowoff, much less with fermcap...

god damn!

that's going to be the best beer evah! I bet it blew up because of that awesome crush I gave you.

Man, I'm glad I didn't brew at the shop today. It's been crazy since I got here. Even had an overall dressed moonshiner, Ed.

My legs are tore up.

Sorry for the late reply, just saw this. I'm down the road in Ocala. Need to get up there and check out the shop. Shoot me a PM with the addy if you will. Sorry if I missed it in this post but I skipped ahead after a few pages.

so the beer is no longer bubbling (since the blowoff explosion) and I pick it up and swirl it and no go. on top of that, the hops are still floating (expected) but what is not expecte, is the beer is very very very cloudy.

like the break isn't dropping type cloudy.

I'm worried the blowoff left it open for too long and **** is going down...
:(

Maybe you should start an "is my beer ruined" thread. Believe me, with a fermentation that big you would have to have worms and take a **** in your primary to infect it.

Quit being a ***** about the clarity. It's been 3 days. I used 007 on my citra ipa two weeks ago. It's dropped pretty clear on it's own at 72F, but still needs a little help to get all the way there. I'll cold crash it after I dry hop.

Now, here's a puzzle for you. I've done 4 no sparge brews, all 4 of them have stopped at 1.020. Even the Mild with a OG of 1.042. Figure that one out.

Haha Chris you need to read the thread on the 1.020 curse. But yeah I have beers that do that too, and what usually works for me is waiting a bit longer than the prescribed amount of time. Comes down in another 2 weeks or something. And Felipe my beers never really clear till 3 weeks on and a cold crash.

1020? Random...

I guess it may be the AG but typically after the churning fermentation stage it clears up. Oh well I'm not too worried. I can't wait to keg it.

Anyone going to Georgia for the SEC championship?
Well whoevers cheap and\or poor like me we should watch the game and have a good time.

You know I'm going to the game.

psyche.

Thinking about doing a Belgian Pale Ale now, discovered yesterday that we have two vials of Antwerp Ale.

I've got a vial of Antwerp in the fridge at home too. Prob several months old, but if anybody wants it, they're welcome to it. I'm gonna stick to S-04 yeast and English styles for a while. Haven't had great luck with non-English yeasts :(

i could have used that a month ago. ill take it off your hands if you want to get rid of it. im on a begian binge lately.

I have some empty slants waiting to be innoculated if you wouldn't midn :D

haha just kidding. chances are I'll never use that yeast. it's all good.

right now I have 005, and 3068 in slants. I forgot to slant the 007 so I'm gonna wash the cake (with the flameout hops.. MM!!) and then slant from that.

yeah I saw it and almost jumped. too bad one looks like a pinlock (even if it's converted to ball won't fit in my keezer)

plus I have 10 kegs. I don't need anymore...

but they are only 15 bucks........

I pretty much followed the recipe for Graff with .4 ounce of Centennial. I didn't use Amber DME, though. Just two packs of the Extra Light. I did the mini-mash version, i think. Maybe I did the extract. I used Mott's.

There's plenty of Graff for everyone. Sarah's going to be home late tonight so it looks like I'm drinking by myself. Graff anyone?

OK you can have it. Its dated for Jan 09 so I can't promise it'll work, but it's been in my fridge since Spring. I'll bring it to the next brew gathering.
