lesson learned?

Blind Pig on draft is tasty and Pliny wasn't as great as I remembered in the past. Reality Czech Pils is a great beer, but I mostly drank Anchor Steam on draft when eating seafood and wine with everything else. That was the lesson I learned, I primarily soaked my liver in fermented grape juice for 5 days, we even had some private tours in Napa.

Side note, I randomly ran into an old friend from high school who was walking down the street on Friday night, Tom also knows Peter from Middlebrow. Small world.

Simplified San Francisco Traveler's Tip:

Beer sucks, drink more wine, throw things at hippies...

Pfft... this was hours ago now. But maybe people who missed out will just get in line now for DDG?

Totally glazed over this yesterday, should have got up off my ass and walked across the street to pick one up...nah, Transient it is.

Join us at Binny’s Chicago – Lincoln Park for the biggest Goose Island BCBS release in Chicago. How it works: People will start to line up early. Once the line forms, Goose Island staff will pass out numbered tickets. These tickets give you the chance to purchase up to the full allotment – you don’t have to take everything, but you’ll get the chance to buy two 16.9 oz bottles of Bourbon County Brand Stout, plus one 16.9 oz bottle of each of the following: Barleywine, Coffee Stout, Regal Stout, Proprietor’s and Rare.

Just wait until that "plus one 16.9 oz bottle of each of the following: Barleywine, Coffee Stout, Regal Stout, Proprietor’s and Rare" gets changed to "one each of Barleywine and Coffee, plus choose one of the other three" when there's 2000 people in line.
From what I've heard, they have enough to cover a full allotment for at least 1200 people.

...and even the opportunity to purchase Bourbon County varieties from previous years pulled from the vault specially for this occasion. Again – that’s just for folks at the head of the line, and only at Binny’s Lincoln Park.

...

so make sure to skip thanksgiving dinner with your fam and get in line by at least 5pm

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

**** that

Or bring the whole family down and have Thanksgiving like the Pilgrims intended....outside at LP Binny's!!!!

I don't know why anyone would go to the busiest location in the city on Black Friday to seek out BCBS. There are literally hundreds of stores in the metro that will be selling this beer. Do these people also seek out the longest line at checkout? It's not like Lincoln Park Binny's has a monopoly on BCBS.

Usually LP has the highest allotment as well. Many other stores will limit you to pick one variant.

The fact that they are (currently) promising one of each? That's like the damn holy grail. Dimwits will show up on Wednesday to guaran-damn-tee themselves the entire set.

There is literally no way Binnys and Goose will be prepared for this. Nearly 1,000 people showed up last year - I would bet 2,000 this year.

Didn't it reach damn near 1,200 last year? We were in the high 700's and that was arriving between 4-5am if I remember right. Not doing that **** again...

In the time it takes you to cycle through a 1000-person line, you can hit at least 2 or 3 Walgreens, right?

Probably the same allotment for all of Chicagoland too.

Step 1. Promise alllll the BCBS.
Step 2. See line.
Step 3. Decide that maybe that wasn't the best idea and change allocation.
Step 4. BEER NERD RIOT.

I've made the joke the last few years that someone is going to be stabbed/shot/violently attacked over this. And while it hasn't happened yet, it seems like every year the odds go up.

That said, if they stick with a ticket system, I would hope the expectations would be more reasonable. You didn't get a ticket? Time to try another spot.
