Middle Brow/ Vav collab #6 Hazelnut Imperial ThreeThread Porter called Nuts to Butts.
You think people would get the reference or just think it's some frat boy ******** name. But it is a great idea, especially if I only had to use a small amount of hazelnuts because those fuckers are insanely expensive.

Has anyone seen a higher draft price for BCS variants around the city than Howells and Hood right now? $10 for 6oz or $20 for 13oz of BCBCS.

What does the keg cost?
Stout still has those $25 bottles of regular and Barleywine. Not sure of anywhere else that has it on draft.

Last keg that I bought was about $255 retail...

A sixtel? So about $255/661 - 39 cents / oz.

Compared to selling at $10/6oz - $1.67 / oz

Roughly a 332% markup.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them with a keg of this before at a similar price. Must have sold then. Why not again, I suppose.

Yes, I've never seen an actual 1/2 barrel of BCS, but that's not saying they don't package some. Difference is I bought my at a liquor store at retail, I am pretty sure they paid even less than I did...

I wonder what some of these bars think...that someome will eventually relent and buy, so just hold out on the hugely inflated price? I feel like I have seen bottles at Jerry's or somewhere for years, that just seem so obviously mispriced. But I guess if they're not wanting for inventory space, just wait for the right person to walk in.

Bars are in the business to make money, so if they feel like charging a bit more or in this case a lot more than the average for a highly in demand product I don't blame 'em. Someone will always pay for it no matter how expensive...

Most of the folks I know who get kegs of BCS in the Western Burbs are paying about $215 for a sixtel, and the price is the same between regular / variants.

*Edit* This is for on premises restaurant / bar locations only, haven't seen a keg for consumer retail since vav sold one to a friend for his pharmacy school graduation 3ish years ago (and that Baudonia was out of this world good, and sold at the Fulton & Wood pricing)

Given the location... expense accounts?

And, yeah, 300% markup is standard. $10 for 6oz seems well above that.

Well, let's say .40 is the base price there as you listed. Just a touch more than you originally listed, I'll admit.

So you indicated 1.67 ends up what that listed that price per oz added up to. How is 7-8 cents per oz more well above that 300% markup? Remember.. it's not 3x.. it's 4x. The markup is 3 times more than the original price. Not just 3 times the original price.

Ah, there's the math I'm doing wrong.

I guess I was basing my "well above" off the general prices I saw in winter when BCBS was around, which were around the $1/oz level. So, I was looking at 67 cents per oz more.

The $1/oz price actually works out under the 300% markup assuming the kegs are $215/ea... comes out to something like $1.30/oz.

7-8 cents is 18-20% more when the base is .40 I'm not here to argue the definition of "well above", but we also aren't talking about a 305% markup either.

So is it then that places who do $1 or $1.2/oz for something like bcbs on tap are going well below how they would normally price other beer and liquor?

Because $1.2/oz would be only a little over 200% markup -- or 3x -- compared to the assumed retail of just shy of $0.40/ox

I was guessing this was related to all of the illegal Shoreline bottles being sold in Chicago.

that's a lotta ******* Shoreline

"She alleges that between July 2010 and December 2012, the defendants defrauded the state out of $3.5 million in sales taxes."

Looks like they're emptying the vault and unloading the last of John, Tom and several other former brewer's beers. I'd be all in on Laura, Mae and that 2010 Madame Rose...
