Is blue gene the blueberry porter? If so, that's probably the worst beer ever made. Straight hot garbage.

Pulled the trigger on tix for GI block party next weekend. On a related note, has anyone seen VR / Prop / other variants tapped anywhere around city recently? Feel like I haven't heard of anything for months. Migration events swimming in it. Dey took our kegs.

Well that's ******, but if you feel like coming up north I pulled these out.

Picked up a really bad 6er of YumYum from Binny's today. Tastes like it's 2yrs old.

Blegh.

am i the only one who thinks yum yum is total ******* even fresh? every bottle i've tasted has been a really gross diacetyl bomb, even after giving it a bit of warm conditioning time.

Thanks for the invite, but I serendipitously picked up a bottle of Old Scout Rye as well. Getting me through this dumpster fire of an Oregon game.

We will berbun soon.

Old Scout Rye Single Barrel is some of the best rye out there.

Yum yum blows. Seconded.

Not saying that Belgian Fest is the best thing ever, but it was a real solid time. Had 3 pours each of Thicket and Pulling Nails #3 and solid pours from many others including Middlebrow. It was dead for most of the fest, not complaining, but also not sure why.

bears season opener against the packers probably had something to do with it.

Thicket and Pulling nails are Belgian beers? I figured they fall into the AWA category no?

not sure why belgian fest the last 2 years has fallen on the same weekend as riot fest & football opener, but its certainly been very sparse the last two years. but sparse fests are nice fests, non-ass to elbows and the ability to drink the expensive perennial beers I dont normally buy (as well as bottles I've never seen like raspberry/rhubarb funky wit & kumquat/pineapple Berliner), multiple pours of the side project stuff, and some other tasty belgians from everyone from goose to transient = success.

And while yum yum ain't my favorite, it is a kinda cool label (though mildly racially insensitive).

The same can be asked of Goose Island Lolita and all of the sour beers that DeStihl used to bring. The Side Project beers are loosely in a Belgian style, which is what the fest is going for. I certainly think they are more closely to style than the Coffee Pepper Black Saison that Goose Brewpubs brought to Belgian Fest two years back.

isn't Lolita's base beer a Belgian blonde/golden/something along those lines...
