How is this batch?

delicious. based on my draft pour i think it is less hot fresh than previous batches. i may open a bottle in the near term to make sure my assessment was accurate.

One of the bartenders at the tap room said this year's was less sweet and that it picked up more wood character. It also aged for a full year in the barrels. There are two cognac barrels with Straight Jacket, too (they're easy to spot at Kedzie - the barrels are all stripey) - very curious to try that one, though I suspect it will come and go very quickly.

thankfully, #newmoney hasn't ruined straight jacket. walked in, no line, bought a case* and a draft glass. delicious.

Barrel-aged barleywine doesn't contain enough adjuncts to warrant #newmoney's interest.

I'm crushing a growler of Wiseacre's coffee stout and I'm getting flashbacks to that first batch of Hell's Black Intelligencer. HNNNNNG.

That is a very good stout (wiseacre) had it in memphis a few weeks ago

Have they made helles black in the last few years? Or have they made it since and the coffee is astringent or the beer ******? I've kinda avoid that place the last couple years due to other people.

They did a new version since they changed coffee suppliers called Speed Ball.

Kim (the bartender) didn't say - it was still in the barrels as of Sunday so it may be a while yet. I'm hoping they'll put it on at the tap room rather than saving it for special events.

They're doing a coffee Deth's Tsar -- I think it's to be called Cafe Deth. Not sure about when we'll see that, or in what quantities, though.

I haven't seen a fresh batch in a while. When I was back in Louisville for Christmas, the bottle dates were either late September or early October. When fresh though, my god . Here's to hoping they pump out fresh batches soon.
