Apparently hes looking for loons only

IL Lambic 1:1 with Fou seems reasonable, I think its in accordance with the Schusler by laws but I could be mistaken... maybe 1:2, or 1:1 with LPK as a pre-negotiated extra mjmoser??

I think GI needs to drop this Black Friday ********. You can't release that quantity of beer through the 3 tier system with their expectations for release without it being a complete pain in the ass for thousands of shop owners/employees.
I think we should start a campaign against GI. First drop the Black Friday ********! Also, there is no reason why so much of the allocation goes out of state. There's no reason if you want a single allocation of all the variants you shouldn't be able to get it if you live around Chicago. There is NO other brewery that does this to their local market. **** GI and AB-Inbev!!

I haven't done a ton of digging, but from the prices I've heard quoted from out of town on the BC thread, it sounds like it wasn't a GI/AB Inbev price increase. More of a Chicago price increase. Binny's being the leader in the (up)charge. <---- see what I did there ;)

Any merit to this? Or is this just me being crazy?

Not crazy. There was an overall wholesale price increase, but it wasn't substantial. CostCo was selling regular for $19.99 a four pack and still making money. Not a ton, but some.

Aside from Costco(19.99 4/packs), Michigan prices were 26.99-27.99/4 pack, 7.99 single bottle variants, and lol@finding any Vanilla.

Case prices of bcbs is around $100 wholesale with bombers closer to $200 or a little more I believe. So Binny's is making $10/4 pack!! I got 3 4 packs of regular in Dixon, IL for $23, Costco $19, guessing WI is still $19/20. So yeah, Binny's and everyone else around here is ******* everyone good.

I missed a lot while I was gone for the holiday weekend. Anyone try to get BCBS at the Costco in Oak Brook? I think I'll stop in after work to see if they have any. On my way back from Kalamazoo yesterday, I stopped at the Livery in Benton Harbor for the first time. Place is legit, that is all...

8 4-packs and 8 bombers in a case right? If so that means they are making $14.50/4-pack and only $2/bomber.

Neither place I went charged the oft-quoted rate of ~$27 across the board. Some of that might have been "**** it get this crap out the door ASAP" but I tend to assume the opposite approach.

As a reference point the margins on BCS have increased in Chicagoland to put them more in the wine territory, which is probably fair considering the nonsense / pain in the ass we impose upon retailers who have no good way to sell this stuff (aside from the Archer Liquors model).

Previously it was being sold at typical craft beer margins.

(I can only speak to the Binnys which does typically influence what Mom and Pop shops sell it at).

Cheers!

Well that new price didn't help them keep people away. They should try something else :)

Next year they will try $30 MSRP, I'm sure.

"How much you think we can get these dingdongs pay for this stuff after lining up all night?"

In 10 years we will be fondly remembering the days when you paid less than $50 a four pack and could get it without missing Thanksgiving dinner.

Nice little Sunday yesterday for the Transient release after the hour plus drive in from STC. Raspberry Maigre was very nice. The saison yeast in Salarium is an interesting take. Henry paired well with meat pie. Wish I could have tried others but alas it is a long drive. If I had a bottle of it, I didn't get it on tap. BCBS sales wiped me out so I only got a few extra bottles after dropping the cash on the renewal. Met a few good folks. Popped over for a Space at HA. Picked up something called Tilquin Gueuze Squared at WLV, so I'm intrigued by that. Not a bad stroll to the northside. Wish I could have met some more folks from here, but I didn't feel like walking up to huddled masses asking for TB handles like it was a beer nerd middle school dance. Turns out most folks' avatars aren't what they look like in person.

My avatar is pretty accurate, as I am pretty much always resting a beer on top of my cats head.

At a $30 four-pack (which is what Woodman's in Kenosha charged, by the way), regular BCBS is $0.625 per ounce. Compare that to an $18 bottle of Deth's Tar ($0.818/oz) or Black Butte Anny (~$0.727) or any BBA'd stout this side of Central Waters. I'd much rather pay $22 for my BCBS, but it still comes out as one of the best deals in beer in cost vs. quality.

If you can find it, of course. **** beer.

They're already approaching FFF levels on the bomber variants.

BA Moloko $1.38/oz tax included.
Prop/Vanilla $1.35/oz tax included.

At least you know BCBS is pretty much worth it.. But still.

This is the thing I never understood. Put something in a 4 or 6 pack and people expect it to be cheaper. Put it in a bomber and people will pay whatever for it. Why? It's like the opposite of every other beverage market. The bigger bottles are less packaging and more product per container, so therefore the price per ounce is cheaper.

Avery has been putting beer in 12 bottles and charging bomber prices for years. $1/oz.

I think I'm just about to the point where I'm going to stop buying everything, and be 100% fine drinking $10 6-packs of Revolution, or Lagunitas, or something else really really good and not anywhere close to $1/oz.

FYI totes look like my avatar.

I mentally convert everything into a rough "6-pack-equivalent" price.

- 4 packs = Price x1.5
- Bombers = Price x3
- 4 pack tallboys = Price plus a buck or two (it's an 8 ounce difference in total volume)

Since adopting this method, I almost never buy bombers. Puts into perspective just how ******* nuts the pricing is. It needs to be damn special to command $25-$30-per-six-pack pricing. And that's for shelf turdy $8-10 bombers.

Do it. I have yet to tire of Anti-Hero.
