So this guy worked at FOBAB, they gave him a bunch of free bottles from the bottles to take home and he tried to "cellar sale" them on Facebook.

Seriously. F this hobby. I wish I still liked Natty Light.
Gonna ruin it for everyone else. Just like everything else in this ****** hobby.

A few things:

1. lol at Backwoods priced above every place that still has it shitting on shelves across the city

2. Prices on some of them have gone up from the first time he posted it in CCBE erroneously and got it deleted and told to move it to CBE

I'd actually give him a tiny shred of respect if he had been honest and just said "hey, I got these bottles for working at fobab but don't want them. Need money for BCBS. Buy my turds."

Screenshots or death.

I agree, or at least be a bit more subtle / not a blatant liar about it. The one thing I don't get is how he got ALL of those. It's a lot of beer, multiples of many of them. I mean, if there was no one else around to take them, then I don't have a big deal with this. But I find that hard to believe.

Round one cellar* cleaning.

Oh boy. This was only half of it before they shut it down. These Johnny Come Latelys are the reason why beer is the way it is.

Everyone here should just drink together. Also, everyone knows my full name now. Say hello next time you're out.

I want to hit every one of those idiots right in the chops.

Maybe every Binny's is starting to hold back a couple cases of every new hawt release to cellar and sell for max profits down the road?

[5 Years from now]....."Properly cellared 2014 Blue Gene for only $40"

Like i did 3 years ago? :p

Real Talk with Vav Re: Suburban Madness

Realistically, i've been expecting this. DeKalb jokes aside, the writing's been on the wall about craft beer popularity exploding in the burbs for about 2 years now. The suburbs are about 2 years behind what happens in the city, it's like that with everything across all cities and their suburbs.

****'s changing again for me though. Bombers are starting to die, and it's fascinating to watch them go gangbusters in tiny little stores. City people want good, affordable six packs of hyperfresh beer. And bourbon, now that it's been a few years and they're older and making more money. The Pappy Craze is slowly being taken over by beer people. Shifting demographics.

The root beer thing though?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think maybe it just might have been it a little dramatic to herald the coming of the beerpocalypse because one guy is selling beer he was given for free.

But that's just me

It was right to point out his **** move.

His **** move was already pointed out though. He was already shouted down by the group and removed his post. It seems excessive to post it again hoping people would attack the dude.

I'm not saying what he did was right but at worst it was rude and socially unacceptable. It's fair enough to ridicule him when he originally posted it but to repost it constantly with the intent to spur on harassment of the dude is going too far.

Some shitpig in that same FB group just posted a Blue Gene "for trade" already. I literally joined yesterday for entertainment. Not sure how long I can even stand it merely for entertainment. It's like all the people I'd heard about but not seen gathered in one spot.

You are definitely the OG!
I can't make it to your store that often but it at least seems like you cellar beer that can be.
I was just being facetious...I hope stores aren't actually trying to cellar fruit adjunct laden 9% porters for profit?
And that root beer thing...can you rile us up some more and tell us how many cases you went through and how fast?

Deserved to be flamed to death IMO.

All I'm hoping at this point is that I can get a bottle of Allagash Farm to Face from my local Binny's on my lunch break tomorrow. Nobody really seems to care much about that beer but I like Allagash and stone fruits. If I fail at that, then I officially give up on the Chicago beer scene.

Hopefully you won't be going to the Oak Brook one. Looks like it sold out quickly there. Shocker.
