Looks like Spiteful is also doing 4-packs of 16oz. cans (looks like ~$12). I'll stick with Heyoka, but thanks for trying.

And then there's this -- a saison with blueberries and mustard seeds. To which I say, "the hell?!"

I don't see Mexican chocolate on that list. PASS.

If anyone in the city winds up near the Lincoln Park Binnys, they're putting out some real vintage shelf-turds throughout the day (possibly weekend). Saw some BCS variants (including Rare for $70), Firestone Walker stuff, some Stranahan whiskey barrel aged beer from Great Divide, etc.

One of the variants was labeled "[illegible] cocoa". And they were blending since I heard a favorite was Apricot Chile blend. So I'm saying there's a chance.

Was just there and all I saw was '12 Double DBA :(

Plenty of great normal shelf turds to buy though.

A "Mexican" BCBS with chiles, chocolate, vanilla, must happen.
Your on the right path, but a Mexican Jumping Bean stout would be better, you already have the spiciness of Chiles, you're half way between Vanilla and Chocolate and of course the Hop's are implied.

looks like i'm gonna be coming back to town flying in on January 13th Monday and will be heading out shortly after normal business hours on Wednesday the 15th.

Big difference in this trip is I'll be visiting and staying near our downtown office on S Michigan Ave.

Would love to meet up with local TB'ers and pop some bottles/in person trading/sharing pints at a good spot on Monday and/or Tuesday evening in the area. I won't have a car while in town this time, but I'm not affraid of navigating my way through public transportation either.

Anyone up for it? Converse with me/post here/whatever you FIBs prefer.
Any recommendations while I'm in town? Bottle shops? Watering holes? Closer to where I'm staying, the better...

Where on S. Michigan is your office?

If anyone wants some more BCBS, Foremost at Lincoln & Peterson had a couple 4 packs at $24.99 apiece.....but only if you buy a 4 pack of Sofie. I ******* love Sofie, but I don't love extortion so have at it, people.

GI recently had a tasting panel for the Bourbon County trial variants for 2014. These were some of the variants:

Mango
Coconut Vanilla
Bitters
cranberry
Chile (sic)
Apricot
Smoked Malt
Pecan Pie
If they did mango Chile it would be awesome. I know bebecsi have had it via randell!

They said the mango didn't come thru at all.
I did mango, pineapple, and papaya with habanero's via randel and came out well that route. The problem is they might be able to get the flavors they want, but have to add a ****-load of fruit to do so?

Does anyone need a used bourbon barrel? Revolution has got you covered (via):
Attention! We will be selling some used bourbon barrels from our Kedzie brewery on Sunday, Jan. 5 from noon-5pm. No holds, but no limits. $30 each. Must pick up at time of purchase. First come, first serve!

I was going to post this in one of the 50 Hopslam threads, but then I remembered I'm on TalkBeer.

http://bellsbeer.com/blog/241-Hopslam_2014__Shipping_dates__release_parties_and_availability

Q: When/where will Hopslam be available?

A:Some availability is dependent on when distributors from each area are able to pick it up at our brewery, but Hopslam will make it to all states we currently distribute to.

It will start shipping to areas in Michigan the week of Jan. 6.

It will begin shipping to Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Missouri, Ohio and Arizona the week of Jan. 13.

Q: When will it be available at the Eccentric Café/Bell’s General Store in downtown Kalamazoo?

A: It is available now.

Hopslam isn't good.

I wouldn't go that far. It's better than most of the year-round DIPA's that most people in Bell's distro have access to. It's one of the myriad D/IPA's that have been outshone by more recent entrants in the beer game.

It's bad, but it's not that great IMO. I've always found it to be a tad syrupy and boozy. Pretty one dimensional. It's not something I've ever understood the hype for every year.
