What batch fam?

Edit - I'm always that dude asking about DtlD batches because I have one of each batch left and can't make up my damn mind on whether to open them soon or sit on them for a while...

Wife returned from a business trip with a suitcase of beer. Among a very solid haul are several tomes:

Coffee ruby
Chocolat
Dark Forest Ghost
Artist 2

Any of these better drinking now over later? I've only had the seasonals and standard saison, no personal experience with any of the more exotic spooks.

As your official ambassador of tomedom, I highly suggest drinking them all right now and then formulate your own opinion of which you need to acquire more of for consumption at a later time.

January 2017 batch of Magic Ghost (bb end 2019). It wasn't quite as ectoplasmically green as the last batch I had (2015? I added a photo below for reference). This bottle came out of my suitcase and had only a day to settle. The color may have been muddled by rustled sediment. A more pronounced bitterness was the main characteristic that distinguished this bottle from my previous Magic Ghost experience. The bitterness seemed to fade as it warmed up. Otherwise, the taste was green tea with notes of secrets, illusions, and mysteries.

Vertignasse. From the photos and accounts I've seen around, there is a lot of variation in color and carb between bottles. Mine was a healthy green color. Carb was low. It was pretty tasty right now, but definitely needed more time in the bottle. It still had that young yeastiness and a touch of sweetness that should disappear with time.

Shout out to SwoldierBoiTellEm for informing me about draft Fantome in the neighborhood of where I was this week for vacation. Kickbacks Gastropub was already on my to do list to check out when time permitted but once I found out they had draft tome, it ended up being my first stop in town.

Not only did they have it on tap but they have quite a few bottles as well dating back to 2010 classic saisons. Right as I was leaving I saw a familiar face - Steve the owner whom I met some ~8 years ago when I first visited Jacksonville. He informed me he got 12 kegs of Fantome and will have it on draft for the next year.......wow

Also stopped by some other local bottle shops and found classic saison, pissenlit, printemps and noel to which I bought one of each. I assumed these all to be fresh bottles. The classic had that bottle haze that just didnt want to settle, taste was straight lime juice. Noel had a green cap and when I cracked it open, it had a hint of something almost like acetone but it quickly faded to more of a tangy fruit aspect. Pissenlit was much darker than usual with an intense earthy brett character before a real strong maltiness. This had some serious house charactet about it which made me think it probably was a bottle that was on the shelf for awhile.

So I went back to the bottle shop a couple days later and a worker recognized me as "the guy who buys the ghosts." He told me people dont really buy that stuff so I took it upon myself to liberate most of their stock. I bought a six pack of that limeaid classic saison and a couple more pissenlits. I wish I could do this in Pa. I have not even left Florida yet and I already miss it. I also drank half the tome bottles I intended to haul home. Whoops

I was happy to find some Vertignasse while visiting the in-laws last weekend for the holiday. After reading the reviews I should have grabbed more. The tend to sit at the shop there, so maybe I'll luck out and they'll last until the next time I am there.

If your Tome supply dries up Vertignasse, Beancurdturtle Ghost Turtle, and all the others hang around my local and can grab you any.

Drank my last Desert Ghost last night (still awesome btw), and I realized that I haven't heard much news in the way of upcoming Fantome releases. For a little bit there, I was having trouble keeping up with them. Anything in the works danyP ?

I think the new piece of brewing equipment has slowed things down for the last couple weeks or so.
