Opened some bottles with friends yesterday.
Caemaex - showing oxidation, but still in that old Fantome kind of enjoyable way, like a dark cherry tartness. Very subtle brettanomyces dusty character.

Sante 5 - reminds me a lot of the Sante 4 I had, maltier saison, oxidation.

Tonton Robert - liked this quite a bit, like a tripel, pepper and hoppy, nice herbal bitterness.

Ete 16 - awesome, very similar to Sante 19, bright lime character.

Diapes 16 - another great beer, still all strawberry lime juice, need more
 
Wife informed me that a box of beer just showed up at the house which could only mean one thing.... ill be cracking open that new gunpowder mild tea tome in a matter of hours. Will report findings/thoughts here in real time.

Im into glass number 2 and I have no idea what life is about and what is going on. What I can tell ya is that im digging this hard enough that im pissed I only ordered 3 bottles so im gonna snag some more pretty abruptly.

Every mouthfull is sending mixed signals to my brain. The best descriptors I can conjure up are strawberry concentrate and belgian aromatic malt.

Leave it to Dany to create the worlds #1 imperial mild ale.

So this is pretty good right out of the gate? Do you think added age and the accompanying Brett/tartness will help it in ~6 months?

I only ordered 2 (for now) but if you think these are both good out of the gate AND will age well, I may have to double that up.

Magic Ghost has tea too, right? I personally hated how that one aged and im not sure if that was just due to the tea (or at lesst the OG batch cuz I gave all mine away.) I really dont know what to think of this one. Second half of the bottle got real twisted with some green yeastiness and herbal/spicy bitterness/tannic/astringent character.

Tomes gonna Tome.

I've felt like the last couple large releases of Magic Ghost (white caps) were off. A little bitter and soapy, missing the funk and hard-to-describe subtle fruitiness of prior batches. IIRC the last gold cap release was like Oct '15, and it was stellar. The past couple have been bad.
 
Coffee Ruby from 2014 (or whenever it was first released). If you were almost at the center of a cherry Tootsie Pop and you melted it, then splashed a little cold-brew coffee on top, you'd be close to this beer. It was confounding and I liked it.

Edit: I last had this about two years ago and it's improved a lot. It's dried out and tarted up a bit.
 
Was at the source today. Had a Chocolat and saison on draft. Lime mojito was my first thought when drinking the saison, so good! Picked up a bunch of saison bottles, several new Gun Powder Mild, and this........

I know nothing about this Tequila barrel aged beer other than what is on the tag at the shop. Will report back once one is open or perhaps danyP can help out.
 
Someone wake up stakem
Hell of a time to not be on the interwebs but enjoying time with family instead.

I got a text message from good old Dunt telling me to hop online but alas I was too late. By the time I got it into my cart and was checking out, I got the out of stock red flag after entering my credit card deets. Its all good though brotopests, I think a generous contributor to this thread already has me on the line for a bottle that he picked up in person. :)
 
In my state of being bummed about missing the first ever BA tome for sale on etre, I took my misery out on a bottle of fresh pissenlit and grimm collab.

Grimm has left the state of being a hefeweizen that it was while fresh and has gone off the deep end, straight into a territory of weirdness. Its fruity akin to pears and apples but is clean with no funk nor distinct yeastiness. I slightly preferred this more while fresh but believe its really gonna continue to change.

This freshest batch of pissenlit is fire. Its malty, fruity and tart. Very much unlike any other pissenlit experience I encountered shy of ~20 year old bottles. I wish I woulda took note as to if this was a bottle I bought from etre or if this was a bottle someone sent me cuz honestly, wherever it came from, I want a dozen more

I just got a fresh piss in the mail. I never really like that beer so this is good news. I don't think I ever had one with more than a few years on it though.
 
I solo'd 4 Tomes in 2 days.... the Stakem of yesteryear is calling myself a pussy for not doing all 4 in one afternoon.

Anyhoo, white cap new batch classic saison purchased from etre with US import logo is straight pink bubblegum. Also, bonbons white cap etre purchase is super grassy, dry and bitter.

The new Sante should be out soon. Fingers crossed when that happens they do a small restock on that BA tequilla sauce
