I got two of each, considered going on as myself (my fiancee did this) to get more Java-Vanilla, but two is probably enough.

In case anyone cares, the Java is in a great spot right now. I drank like 2/3 of bottle the other day.

Agreed. Drank some at Oakquinox. Drank some during Kentucky Derby. Coffee is so weird how sometimes it fades uber quick, sometimes it mellows nicely.

See also, Mash & Grind. Very nice on the patio yesterday after playing some golf.

You managed to keep your M&G that long? I finished mine off a while ago. That was a solid beer. Mash & Coconut will be interesting.

Hmm, I wonder if the party beer this year will be Coconut Eclipse. I bet that would be good.

I'm notorious for holding on to at least one bottle for longer than recommended. Been trying to drink off all these 2-3 year old non BA stouts this spring from the cellar, **** like Mash & Grind gets lost in the shuffle.

I love coconut, but I have a Pavlovian response to it now. It makes me fearful of infections and trade rape.

I havent purchased eclipse futures prior to this year. I dont know if this is standard practice - admittedly it caught me off guard. Got a card in the mail yesterday confirming my selections. 3 months is kinda late to confirm an order...or really early to remind me that I still owe them more money :/

Is it December yet? Prior to getting this mail, I had a sudden urge to face a bottle of eclipse... beer senses tingling.

The cards went out later than they wanted this year, but you should've gotten purchase confirmation from paypal right after you bought them.

I got excited when I got the eclipse certificate last week. Hope I can make the party work again this year.

Would love to attend this year, when do tickets go on sale? (if they havent already) and where would they go on sale?

sorry if I missed this

So heard that Todd is leaving Fifty Fifty and going back to Flossmoor.
I've heard that before though. Hell, last year at the party he made a big announcement that he wasn't going anywhere.

Not to say you're wrong, this could be the time the rumors line up.

Thought that announcement was more along the lines of stepping down?

He said both, stepping down but staying.

Source?

Sorry, I meant to link the article. Sounds like that's basically the case and that he will still be on board at 50/50 as a consultant and will be back and involved in the Eclipse blending/bottling for at least one more year.

Says Alyssa (I assume a female) will become head brewer. That's awesome that we're starting to see some female head brewers, are there any other breweries with a woman as the head brewer?

Lagunitas Chicago: Mary Bauer

New Belgium's sour program: Lauren Salazar

Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery's owner and brewer: Emily Thomas

I also read somewhere that the new person in charge of the sour program at Russian River is a woman, but I can't find a link. I'm sure there are others.

I believe AB InBev, actually.
AB InBev has female head brewers at two of their twelve US breweries, one of which is Ft Collins (Katie Rippel). I happened to take the tour this morning in Ft Collins out of sheer curiosity (and I needed a couple hours of not drinking after spending eight days in Colorado) and the guide made note of that fact.

Edit: Another one is Alexandra Nowell at Three Weavers Brewing Company.

This is an interesting tidbit from the ratebeer newsletter:

Todd further mentioned a not-so-little certain something he left behind in Truckee—though he was unsure when it would appear. The base beer is eight Plato higher than Totality, Eclipse's base. The barrel it’s aging in had held part of the recently released 20-year Rip Van Winkle bourbon. Code name: "Pappy Masterpiece."

Todd summarized, "I assure you it will be epic."
