This is my first beer brew, having done wine and I am brewing a Brewer's Best Milk Stout and the directions said to sprinkle the yeast and then stir in. After doing so I looked at the yeast packet and saw on the back that the yeast is supposed to be rehydrated before use. It has only been a few hours so I may be jumping the gun, but I am concerned that I may have ruined the whole batch. Am I stressing over nothing or is there anything I can do to salvage it?

You'll be fine. There's constant discussions about hydrating/ stirring, and dumping in, they all work fine. Don't worry. In brewing there's often multiple ways of doing things and they're all right. The yeast are pretty hardy

It is always a good idea to rehydrate but it's not required. I'm sure it will be great!
