After about a year of light use I can no longer get my STC1000 to power anything during the heating cycle. Assuming I have a multimeter and assuming I'm an idiot when it comes to electrical stuff, how to I go about diagnosing what the problem is?

I did check inside the project box and everything seems to be wired up. I also check and the cooling circuit is just fine.

You should hear a 'click' when the heat kicks on, that's your first clue. Should sounds just like the cooling relay.

Check continuity across all connections, and see if you get 120v at the plug when it triggers.

Yeah one of the stc 1000s I got from ebay came to me with a dead relay, and the cooling side would not turn over. I figure its just a by-product of having such cheap electronics, I sent it back and they gave me a new one. I'm sure you could solder and new one in, etc, but I was in no rush.
