Anyone interested in splitting some acidulated malt? I could take 10 pounds of the following if so:


1X WEY1072 Weyermann® Acidulated 25 Kg (55 Lb.)

We have fairly soft water, and I've been using lactic acid (88%). 2-3 teaspoons in 10 gallons. Is there any advantage in using acidulated malt instead?

I've read adding 1% of acidulated to the grist reduces pH by 0.1, typically.

I use phosphoric acid and dilute it to 10%. It's much easier to measure and more forgiving at the small amounts I often need. I think that's the real benefit of acid malt, the ease of precise measurement.

Some of us here have been trying to get some crystal 120L for a while. Come on folks, you know you want some!

Later pickup: Good Question!! I will get some details, but yes that is what I said. I think growler hours start at 1PM so we want to start at perhaps 11 so we are done by then, but let me run it by them and of course I will put all the details in the email I always send to anyone on the buy...

I use concentrated phosphoric acid now...and I am scared I am going to burn myself someday so was thinking of switching to acidualted malt for ease of use. Plus with kids I don't like having it around...

Where did you get hold of concentrated phosphoric acid (90%?). Aside from the gallons sold by Starsan, I've only seen the 10% dilutions around, which is what I use too, instead of lactic acid.

I still have plenty of C120 left from the last buy, or I would help you out and take some.

I bought a 32oz bottle of 85% food grade phosphoric from Amazon I believe. I mix up a bunch at 10% and keep it in a mason jar while the full strength stuff is stored out of the way.

EDIT: Yes, making a working solution is always a good idea. Cuts down on measuring errors of small quantities too. And it won't spoil.
