Probably popping into New Park around 2 today. Anyone check it out yesterday (besides pjs234)?

blckout20, Court and I hit it yesterday as we made our rounds for Matt's birthday. A couple friends joined us there. "Cloudbreak"(I think) IPA was really good and all the offerings were pretty tight. Food trucks were a very nice touch. The space is definitely conducive to hanging out and despite being utterly jamming with business our party thought they fared pretty well. They had a lot of staff on deck to make it run smoothly. To nit pick-Pours were like $7-8 if I remember correctly so while cheaper than most of the good bars around, it was a little pricey for on site offerings.

Will be back. Real close to my spot and that new mass transit line, glad to meet people there for a beer.

Saison Day at 2 Roads was fun. Enjoyed Astrid from Allagash, interesting beer that saw time in Aquavit barrells. Dawnlander from them was just OK.
The red wine barrel Workers Stomp from 2 Roads was pretty tasty. It seems this was only the 2nd time they have poured it.
And getting to nosh on a Caseus grilled cheese & tomato soup was a good way to wrap up a little early Saturday drinking.

Not sure who here has been to Fat Orange Cat Brewing in East Hampton, but this has quickly become one of my favorite breweries to visit on weekends. The beers are mostly decent and they tend to have between 4-7 options on draft. Beers can be on the pricey side ~$12/crowler but it gets somewhat offset by what I think is a great on site deal of $5 for 4 sample pours and a glass to keep. The whole place has a very OG Tree House vibe, it is in what I believe is the owners yard and the brewery is based out of their garage/barn. Very comfortable place to hang out, bring the dog, and have a few drinks.

If you come over the Arrigoni bridge, Forest City Brewing and Stubborn Beauty are both right there too. Still haven't been to Stubborn Beauty but I have really enjoyed Forest City's Hazegiving and Stargazer IPAs on multiple occasions.

Also, New Park Brewing has a raspberry berliner weisse they are pouring today. Hoping to try and get over there and give it a try this weekend. On their FB it looked like there might be Savoy pizzas too? That would be righteous.

Yeah the beers have certainly ranged, some have tasted a bit unfinished to me but others have been pretty good. They do a jalapeno cream ale that is actually really cool, definitely worth checking out.

FOC is good, though I had an issue with one of their crowlers recently. It was one of their 7% ipa's (not sure which one) and I let the can sit about a week. When opened it, the first pour was fine, but the second pour had a ton a sediment, not the flakes, but actual thick cloudy globs of stuff. This second pour was also highly acidic and burned the back of my throat. Ended up drain pouring it. Not sure what happened, it was like it was made from concentrate and it separated while it sat in the can. Probably has to do with how they make it cloudy. Then I went back there the following weekend and all the ipas seemed to have that slight acidic taste to it, although I am sure I was much more sensitive to it. I did grab a 4pack of the launch and that was fine. Either way... I like the place but my enthusiasm is a bit more tempered now.

Yeah, don't get me wrong I'm not drinking crowlers of this stuff but a few oz. of a sample pour is pretty solid. Smells like just pureed jalapenos but doesn't hit you over the head with too much spice. They also did a spicier version, I forget the name it was like Sheila Tequilla or something that was also pretty nice.

Also, if anyone is in or around West Hartford, the raspberry berliner weisse at New Park was extremely legit. Honestly it was one of the best sour brews I've had in CT. Of course it was $8 for a 12 oz pour on site, but my gripes with their pricing will be appeased if they make some more brews like this. Would highly recommend anyone go try this while it is available - tons of fruit, moderately sour, reminded me of some of very good floridaweisse.

I strongly advise against anyone visiting Fox Farm and would suggest it's far more preferable to visit one of the many great breweries in the state specializing in turbid IPAs than it is to travel all the way to Salem.

What's their growler policy? Any 750/32/64 or do you need to buy their weird shaped glass?

I believe they fill anything that fits under their taps. For swingtop 750s they charge $1 less for them than for their 1L fills. Also make sure you bring your own caps if you're planning on filling standard 32s or 64s, as their 1L caps don't fit 32s and their 2Ls are swingtops.

Yeah, I saw them filling all different growlers at Fox Farm, no need for theirs. I will say that even though I drank my growlers only days after their fill, they definitely felt less carbonated then when I had them on draft at the brewery. Still good, though.

I'm headed from Vermont down to visit family in Prospect, CT on Friday and will have time to stop at a brewery or two on my way down. I'm thinking of hitting Modern Apizza for lunch and maybe NEBCO. Any newer breweries along the 91 corridor I should hit?
