I have a stupid training in Derby on Wednesday, any suggestions nearby? I'll be taking the 684-84 route. I was going to hit decicco's in Brewster on the way home, but I was wondering if there was any place nearby that I could nurse a pint or two while I avoid rush hour traffic heading home.

If you want to stay in Derby, the Dew Drop Inn usually has a solid draft list, and tasty wings if you enjoy that sort of thing.
Dew Drop is probably the right answer, but maybe check out The Hops Company (also in Derby). I haven't been yet, but they have a ton of draft lines so maybe there will be something cool on tap.

And depending on where in Derby you are, you're not that far from NEBCO if you'd rather just drive the wrong way from home to kill some time.

Not sure if I'm surprised nobody commented on this or if I should have expected the silence...

Anyway, if anyone in the New Haven area picks up a case next week and wants to part with a can, I wouldn't mind trying it.
I have no idea what this trailblazer thing is. Tell me more..

Pioneer Beer Co is opening in South Windsor later this year, but has been contract/tenant brewing at a few places over the years. Now they're brewing at Shebeen and releasing some of their own beers. Trailblazer is a hazy IPA that all the newmoney ******** in CT are trying to hype up as the next Heady/Julius/whatever.

Selling cases @ Shebeen every few weeks and sending some to distro for now. I'm probably wrong about some of this, but here's Pioneer's Facebook page

From what I understand, it's not that Shebeen is brewing their beer. They're just using Shebeen's equipment until their own space is finished.

I've spent way too much time wading through some of these shitting on Shebeen posts in one of the CT Facebook groups over the past few days, so I'm pretty sure this is the arrangement.

Trailblazer is solid. It'll draw its comparisons to TH, etc. because people like to do that kind of thing but it's fine, even if it's an attempt to hop on the hazy train. Also mine out of the can didn't really look like that one in the picture does. It appeared much more appetizing. I just thought it was expensive for a brand new brewery at $16 for a four pack when I can buy SoS at $14/4 or Captain's Daughter even cheaper. But it'll sell...so good for them.
