Swung by OEC for the first time on Saturday. Enjoyed a full flight outside on a gorgeous day. Really an unbelievable spot...dem B.United monies flexing hard...that had to be something like a $4 million buildout...would bang again...anyone know if they make any clean beers or is it all teh sourz?

Yeah, definitely the coolest facility of its size I've ever seen. I want to say that the first Phantasma was clean (though I am not 100% sure on this, perhaps one of the CT dudes can correct me), and there have also been a couple clean Zymatore treatments that they've poured. But that's probably it.

I'm guessing you had Aeris if you had the flight. That and Novale, iirc are about as close to a clean beer as they get... A bit more hop forward and less funk... But it's still in there.

Love that place. Go a few times a month. Still pretty under the radar - every time I go I expect to pull into a packed place, and realize the secret is out...

Was also pretty amazed at how few people were there when we arrived shortly after opening...

I really like that Alvinne beer. It's weird as hell, but totally dug it. Not sure I've ever seen it on a draft list before besides at Eb's or Lion's Pride, back when that was a thing.

Saw some Broad Brook cans on the shelf for the first time this past week. Taking a quick look at some reviews, they seem to be in the mediocre category. Any opinions if it was worth picking up their pale ale, IPA, porter ?

And if anyone popped open the Black Hog / Oxbow collab, would love to hear an opinion of that.
For me personally, Broad Brook is the worst brewery I've been to in CT. That said, I haven't been to Half Full, DuVig, Thimble Island or Powder Hollow yet.

Had the Disco Pig 3 on draft at the event on Saturday. Needs time.

Yep, it's usually nice and mellow. we stopped by around 12:30 on Saturday, had a couple beers (Exilis and Tempus... Tough to top that) while sitting out on the deck. Nice way to spend an afternoon!
Just missed you guys. Ran into Pete at Black Hog and had a few beers with him and his dog.

I had the DuVig cream ale on draft somewhere and actually kinda liked it. Is my palate broken?

Ben says that none of their beers will ever be completely clean. They cool the wort in their coolship so it's impossible to keep bugs out. There will certainly be a large range of all kinds of tartness/funkiness and how intense they are.

I hope the OEC secret never gets out. I finally learned about the De Cam secret for the first time and put it on the same level.

Had some Coriolis with lunch this afternoon, it had been a while since I`ve had it, still delicious.
And finally got to try some Hobbit Juice, pretty tasty beer, but not amazing. Still is nice to see them as an option in some places in Western CT as of late.

...that OEC anniversary party is coming up, very interested in learning the bottle & tap list details

Barcade New Haven?

Having never been to the one in Brooklyn, how are these establishments? I'm slightly intrigued, but I was slightly intrigued by Dave and Buster, and left after 15 minutes.

The original location in BK is a cool place that has solid events every so often. While their everyday tap lists are not heavy on the wow factor; you will find solid offerings like Other Half IPA, Allagash Black, DFH Palo Santo. It is all American made beer & they have liquor as well, if a friend prefers to order a gin and tonic or whatever.

And they give a lot of lines to local breweries, so I would expect NEBCO & others to be represented well in New Haven. Given the demographics of NH, this new spot will likely attract a lot of people in their early 20s. So that may be a small downside to some folks. But all things considered, I think it will be a nice addition to the scene
