I'm betting on a sweater
If in fact it is infected I can only hope that they'll replace it with another BT variant. Fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath.

It looks like next year will be the year of the variant though. I'm hoping for the sake of my "trustees" that they make it bigger and and better than the last few months of this year.

Last night at Society member Monday the story was lab people were off last week for vacation/ Thanksgiving. They're just waiting for QA/QC data before releasing it for sale. Relax.

relaxed, but they are waiting on QC data from just some of the beers?
why didn't they say anything in the email?

I hope they are right/ certainly possible, i would love some ****. but it's still weird and a bit unsettling how they are going about it

I don't find it weird at all. The complete lack of communication from then beyond badic smoke up your ass is standard operation for the societies.

Last time we got that story, we got two beers that had Lacto and needed to be kept cold. Considering what has gone on with **** beyond moved from January to July to December, combined with the Bruery's track record over the last 18 months, I have a pretty hard time just assuming that the beer will come out as intended next week.

I don't work for the Bruery just relaying what was discussed last night. If it does end up being bad I'd rather they not sell it to me than sell me a beer they're not proud of or that's infected. I'm just saying everyone wants an answer, but maybe they don't have one yet. Best story of the night was a long thought out complain letter they got and after several back and forth emails they discovered it wasn't even their beer it was the Three Floyd's version of Floyd D'Rue that was infected. The Bruery has ****** up before and likely will again, but they've always made right. If there is something going on with **** I wouldn't be surprised because of their past. From the way it was shared yesterday it's in bottles and QC data wasn't back yet. Since the beers don't get bottled on the same day and there's a time element to BacT testing it's expected that they wouldn't get all the data back for all the beers at the same time. The other two were likely bottled earlier.

Fair enough. I still find it odd that they wouldn't just say that, considering they know how much speculation is going to happen. Obviously people would still speculate, but they should realize by now that silently delaying a highly anticipated release is going to cause a shitstorm.

Master BJ Ciceroni Alert! Patrick really needs a better "stock photo" than his creeper case-hugging picture.

Thought about bringing this up here, but realized that a) it isnt a germane thread, and b) people who populate beer forums refuse to accept it as a legitimate certification for some reason (even though the rest of the industry has)

Because the Cicerone certification is largely geared towards industry professionals (with education concerning topics such as basic keg setup/draft line upkeep, food pairing, etc) and a minimal effort to teach the intricacies of brewing styles and history.

As a closet-dwelling permavirgin myself, I can tell you that I'm not interested in becoming Cicerone certified, although I am a national ranked BJCP judge, and even that isn't worth much around here. Although, it is much more aligned to what beer forum neckbeards are looking for as far as an "educated opinion."

Because credentials are usually meaningless.
As shown by the Bruery's performance over the past 18 months. Being one of nine master Cicerones is great, but it's certainly not reflected in their output. I'm guessing he's not particularly active in day to day brewing, but it's ultimately his show since he's in charge.

I don't doubt that Patrick earned his certification...and that it's probably hard as **** to get. But mostly it impacts me zero percent on weather or not I enjoy the beer.

I definitely value BJCP judge certification more than Ciceroney because you guys have BJ in your title.

And in this current SoCal weather, I know I'm not buying anything! Huh!?? Right??? HIIII-YOOOOO!!

Yeah, and apparently "how to successfully run a beer club" isn't one of them.

Please explain how HS RS and PS are not successfully run beer clubs?

They are clearly the benchmark that the bulk of the other societies try and emulate.

Please name a single brewery that has put more attention and resources into there society?

How the newsletter was written...
As you know, we've also been working hard on your Hoarders exclusive pilot beers: Mango Hottenroth andGeriatric Hipster Club. We expect to have these available later in the month. Sorry for the delay!

How it should have been written...
For those of you anxiously awaiting So Happens It's Tuesday, Mango Hottenroth, Geriatric Hipster Club, and Oaked Old Richland, we haven't forgotten about you. As part of our renewed commitment to quality, we have a new standard practice to analyze all of our bottled beers before releasing to the public. Our quality control lab took an extended Thanksgiving holiday, so unfortunately we have not received the results back in time for our monthly allocation email. Barring any setbacks, we fully expect to be offering these beers to you later in the month, so chill the **** out.

Okay, so the "chill the **** out" is probably overkill, but I would have appreciated the rest.

What's your standard? They make a ton of money, but so does J Wakefield and his society is a ******* joke. This entire year the Bruery's communication and follow-through have been abysmal, as have the choices for what they've been making.

The question about resources is inane because the Bruery has by far the largest club, so no **** they devote more resources to it. But I've been pretty significantly more satisfied with both of my other clubs (SARA and Rare Barrel), and so far Schramm's is looking better too. I've also only heard positive things about De Garde and Crooked Stave (though that one was killed).

The fact that they haven't said a word about the release I was most looking forward to after delaying it for months has killed them forever to me. That's such a complete ******** move that there's no way I will ever give them credit again. If you're going to do that you have to ******* tell us what's going on. It's disgraceful.
