would you say :

3.2 oz chocolate malt (1.2% grain bill)
2.4 oz roasted barley (0.9% grain bill)
2.4 oz black patent (0.9% grain bill)

is too much in a recipe? can i make it work or is this way too much, workable, or not enough.

For my stout I justed brewed last weekend I used...

1/2lb of Crystal 120L
1/2lb Chocolate Malt Grains
2oz Roasted Barley
2oz Black Patent Grains
2oz Oatmeal

I think you will be good.:)

If you are brewing a Czech pilsner it's WAY too much, but if you are making a stout or porter you could probably add more. Without knowing what you are making I have no idea if it's OK or not.

I brewed stone's recipe for their chocolate oatmeal stout from Brew your Own. It called for a pound of chocolate malt, 1/2 lb of black barley, and a 1/2 lb of black patent. From the kettle it tasted nice. Still waiting about another month before bottling and getting a good taste of it. Can't wait.

seems like based on what you guys are using it for in your porters and stouts that i should be ok for my purposes.
