Hello! I'm brand new to home brewing! I just finished my first fermentation using apple cider with a few oz of honey, sugar, and some bread yeast
o). I know bread yeast is a bad choice, so I've tried to start my own culture.
I've a got a culture of yeast going, started from some grapes I picked up from the grocery and some spring water. I put these in a mason jar. I also tried some raisins (brand: Sunmaid) but that failed. Honestly, I expected the grapes to fail and the raisins to work.
Anyway, I've got a bit of bubbles in my grapes and I've fed them 2 heaping tablespoons of sugar in addition to the grapes that they're working on. I was wondering if there was a good way to store and or stabilize the culture. Obviously if I leave them as is, they'll die from alcohol poisoning.
I'll be leaving town shortly for a few weeks and I need to know what to do with my culture! Should I remove the grapes?
