Be careful when transporting your propane tank

That's messed up. I drive about 2 miles to get my propane tank exchanged out and then drive it home. I'm guessing there was an issue with the tank leaking, like the article stated. Propane tanks have safety valves on them to help prevent this, I believe.
 
No, propane tanks have valves to relieve pressure to prevent explosions, but they release propane and and if the propane has no where to go it would cause an explosion. My guess is that this person left the tank in a hot car for some time, the propane gas expanded because it was heated up, triggering the relief valve and then found an ignition source
