On Rare Barrel's facebook:

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, August 2nd. We are releasing our first ever collaboration! You aren't going to want to miss this sour. Details coming soon...

They have the label posted on their wall near their bottles where you pick up Founders bottles. It's called "On the shoulders of giants". Collab with Pete Slosberg. IIRC it's a dark sour with cherries
I remember from a Founder's night, them saying that they were hoping the Shoulders of Giants was going to be an annual series of collabs with heavy hitters that came before them.

IIRC, they haven't done a cherry sour beyond the Isla Vista one yet.

Why does Rare Barrel make so many dark and red sours relative to others? Always seems like a waste to add fruit to ones that have other flavors that just swallow up everything else. Oude Tart w. Cherries for example is a total waste.

I actually thought Oude Tart w/ Cherries was fantastic. SitR w/kumquats though? Meh

Lesson learned: dark beers have strong flavors and light beers have less flavor.

You know what I mean! When brett and bugs eat unfermentables, it throws off strong flavors that overwhelm the rest of the beer. I thought Oude Tart with Cherries was good, but the cherries didn't add much to the base beer.

Oude Tart with Cherries is fantastic and any RS members who don't want their full allotment... Lemme know! Same with GM/CR which I have never tried. Oude Tart with cherries has been available randomly on tap several times around me.

I was extremely pleasantly surprised when Sirius Black turned out to not to be a dark sour.

Bummer. I'll be there this weekend and was hoping to get some.

Do you know what they are filling right now?

Didn't see the growler fill list at the Jezebel release and it seems like none of the DIPA or limited stuff, like Bangerang and Questionable Origins were fills. Probably doing Hully Lewis, Fake Gold, Rye Be Bitter and/or Tim's Brown.

Every time I go, there is some good stuff on tap for growler fills.
