have had these taps for a while and never had a problem. I went to have a beer and the tap was stuck because I hadn't had a beer in a week or so. I sprayed a little starsan on it and let it soak for a minute or so and then tried to open the tap and it didn't budge but beer started pouring out of it!

I had to grab a bucket while it poured out and I could open the door and pull the line off the keg.

I haven't tried it since but anyone run into this before and know what could be wrong?

Just sounds like it needs to be cleaned.

Are they the standard taps, or Perlick style forward sealing? The standard ones gunk up quick, and can stick partially open. Sounds like that's what's happening, you got it to crack free just enough to leak, but not open all the way.

Yeah just the standard taps, thanks for the info.

I really don't like that this happened and am going to upgrade to the Perlick 650 or maybe even the 690 if I can find a decent price. They should fit on the standard shaft no problem?

Yes they should screw right on.

For now, If you just pull the liquid line from the keg, then remove the tap and clean (pull it apart), it should work fine again for a while.

It happens all the time with cheap taps like mine

One day I’ll upgrade

The only possible explanation is the faucet lever moved the plunger enough to unseal the rear O-ring but the works were not free enough to seal again. Disassembly and a thorough soak in cleanser (or even just hot water) before reassembly should fix it right up...

Cheers!
