I recently made a hoppy cream ale.
I attempted to save the yeast (safale 05)
I ended with a mason jar of goop.
Can I add this to my next brew, a dipa?
Is there any benefits?
Is this worth the effort considering the yeast is only 05?

I’ve repitched harvested yeast slurries many times. As long as the beer wasn’t infected, the slurry isn’t too old, or too hoppy, it works well. I would not repitch that jar since it looks like there is a lot of hop material. In general it is not recommended to repitch if there are hops in the slurry.

My slurry always have a lot of hop particles.
I have always tossed the hops into the boil.

If you want to harvest and repitch yeast, your yeast will be more viable if you don’t transfer the hops to your fermenter. There’s no problem fermenting with the hops in there, but the yeast in the slurry will be stressed when stored.

To keep the hops out of my fermenter I boil with a mesh hop bag, before the bag I used to filter them out with a strainer when transferring. Your choice, but if you keep the hops in there I can’t think of a benefit of saving the slurry.
