What was the best feature you have ever seen at a bar that would be totally unique?

The best feature for me, is the space itself. There's gotta be room or I have no intention of staying long. I don't want to be rubbing elbows with linebacker size dudes that reek of Calvin Klein and are yelling at their bro's while drinking Bud Lights all night. An airy interior, curtain wall, "garage" door open to outdoors or a beer garden to escape to.. throw in an accessible way to easily order beers without having to wade through the hipsters that got there four hours ago to sit at the bar for a full meal before spewing verbal diarrhea.. any or all of that would be good.

Oh right. Resurgence has that. The bar stays accessible because they have giant-sized Jenga and Connect Four that draws the hipsters and non-drinkers away from the bar.

Condolences Psy. Never easy, no matter the quality of life.

Dang Jess, no clue where the fire started then? Weird.

lol 8 am lines for beer. Weirdos.

French press. Stayed home so I can finish the floor and rest. Maybe not in that order.

I honestly think this is the best feature to any bar, what you listed exactly above.

You would love this place:

The story we got was there was as follows: There is a bell on each floor of the pub. When parliament would reconvene they would ring the bells to recall all the lords back to parliament. The building itself is awesome.

Looks very cool. One of my bucket list items is to go to London or Dublin and visit a bunch of old pubs like that.

Not totally unique, but I always love the tap rooms that have windows into the brewery.

Windows? How about a brewery that has a brewery in the brewery?

You know I've got a spare room and one tap with your name on it.

My favorite bar checks all of your boxes. Good food helps too.

Yeah, a bird built a nest and the bulb got hot enough to light it on fire. I have cleared out nests about 6 times in the past. I started to clear this one out before i left but got distracted and my reach is bad due to my back. Now the other light will stay off and I'll replace them asap.

@Psylocide I am sorry for your loss.

More coffee.

That's the kit. You'll just need to cut the racking cane, square one end, bevel t'other.

As you have Perlick faucets that could change things. I've seen a video of a chap bottling directly with a screw in adaptor for the Perlicks in the same manner. Nice amount of counter-pressure.

I have crappy faucets making this a non-option.

Here is a video I watched a year or so back. Love that screw-in adaptor.

Perlicks ISO

I think this is Capebrewing (the guy with the homer burning ch1t avatar) a HBT member and now a pro. Could be wrong

Love Warsteiner Dunkel.

Whole thing got merged with the NB thread in Reviews and all but the OP deleted.

Nope, not cape ... :beard:

Other than that, I like unique settings and architecture: renovated churches, historic buildings, etc. Nondescript taprooms in industrial parks are boring.[/QUOTE]

Me too, like the Angry Minnow in Hayward, WI (shameless plug for the hometown)
Their brewery is in the basement but they left it open so you can see

@Psylocide prayers for you and yours
@Hello whew, glad things weren't worse!

As far as unique places go, one of our favorite places around here is Brewery Vivant. It's an old funeral home chapel. Really beautiful building and the pub is a great atmosphere. If you're ever in Grand Rapids, check it out. I like their beer and the food is incredible. Best burger I've ever had.

Check out this pic from 2nd Story brewing company not too far from my office.
They have two floors, each with their own bar. The second floor has large glass windows were you can view the brew process. If you look up from the first floor through the open 2nd floor you can also view in. Pretty awesome

Is that the old Triumph brewing building? The Albert was a cool place to drink, but then again, I enjoyed just about every pub I sat in when we were there - very cool atmosphere without the pretentiousness you find here. Smoke free, not so loud you can't hear yourself think, and not so crowded you can't move (bathroom, get another beer, etc.)

EDIT - this was a restaurant, but they did serve good beer & wine. One of the coolest locations I've eaten and was in Bath. Underground with all those stone archways made interesting echoes but was surprisingly not too loud. This picture gives an idea but doesn't really do the place justice.

It is the old Triumph building. They changed little to nothing besides small décor items to the space. I'm glad they left that feature of the open floor plan with the windows.

That is a pretty cool space
Small though

Morning all.

Wife's grandpa died Sunday morning... guy was 92 and had pretty much lost it completely, so we can take solace in the fact that he's not struggling just to get by every day.

Selfishly I hope the funeral doesn't land on the weekend, with my testing/tournament coming up Fri/Sat and kid's Bday on Sunday... oof.

Sux ... my condolences ...

LOL Man, we probably used the same tour company. This place was awesome. I forgot all about it. Its hard to pick out just a few pieces of architecture from Bath. That city was beyond beautiful.
