Is that the old Triumph brewing building? The Albert was a cool place to drink, but then again, I enjoyed just about every pub I sat in when we were there - very cool atmosphere without the pretentiousness you find here. Smoke free, not so loud you can't hear yourself think, and not so crowded you can't move (bathroom, get another beer, etc.)

EDIT - this was a restaurant, but they did serve good beer & wine. One of the coolest locations I've eaten and was in Bath. Underground with all those stone archways made interesting echoes but was surprisingly not too loud. This picture gives an idea but doesn't really do the place justice.

Reminds me of eating lunch in the lower level of Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in London. We went to some fantastic places in London and Oxford.

Shennanigans, I declare shennanigans!

Hey man... plagiarism was never mentioned as a non-starter.

I'll thank you to appreciate the amount of time it took me to arrange it in that fashion. Also, pulling at CADJockey's heartstrings with one of his favorite topics.

Good day, sir.

tldr

Also, wanted to point out why I like these pics, as per the official rules of the Rofllo Bullshirt Patty Breakfast Lollerway Contest.

The details those guys put into everything is amazing, and love the fact that the Sapphire room has no windows and is completely soundproof. Would love to know how many secrets were shared in that room.

Ya guys don't have to make light of it.. it's an opportunity for free beer. You don't have to participate if you don't want to. The biggest part is "why you like the picture you picked" which there isn't much of yet... if its just a joke, we can end it now and go about the normal rambling.

Hey mine were serious. That's a pretty unique building that I haven't seen anything remotely close to anywhere else. And the Tesla monument is just awesome.
I'm for serious on trying an Irish Breakfast

Friendly friends make friendly banter, CAD. Seriously though -- nice of you to do a giveaway. I've never been to Buffalo so just taking the piss.

Did you read the description link? They compared the smoke to hints of bacon. That's duffman hook line and sinker lol. Haven't opened the bottle I picked up for myself yet. Might share it on Easter with friends. Always keep their special releases for a nice occasion. I need to make it up to see Tesla once the weather breaks.

I saw a PBS special that toured the Martin house and complex and really enjoyed it. His architecture doesn't appeal to everyone, but I am very much drawn in by it. One of the few things I've seen or read that would entice me to visit Buffalo (in addition to Ralph Wilson stadium) Thanks for the generosity of the share and pride in your town CAD! (I didn't elaborate at first because of stupid conference calls.)

Mine was too dude...I think Buffalo is probably a bit like the twin cities...except for the snowmaggedon, yikes

That bottle has Duff written all over it lol
The Canadian side actually has the cool museum for Tesla you can visit. I don't know when the NY Telsa museum will be ready. I think they reached their crowdsourcing fundraiser goal for it, though

I know the Oatmeal pushed the funding to buy that site way over the top. I hadn't heard that funding for building the museum had been hit as well. That's definitely a place we'll take a weekend trip to visit.

Looking into it now, there haven't been a whole bunch of updates beyond the push to sell inscribed bricks to help with the fund raising, which ended on 12/31

No problem dude you know you're good. FLW was just forced upon us in every single architecture class, which I hated. I get it. He did big things. I understood that in 4th grade. Let me decide who I like now  I'd love to visit Fallingwater though, have you been?

Just a drive-by. Definitely would like to visit properly. And totally understand something being forced down your throat. That's how I came to hate the Cowboys. America's team? Really? When did we have that vote to decide?

I have no idea what's going on in here.

FWIW, there are no particularly cool looking pubs/brewpubs here.

Ground was broken shortly after WWI and built in 1925 by architect Frank A. Spangenberg and Tross Construction Corp.

The building now serves as a banquet hall for large events.

The George Washington room

The first ever 14-foot Kittinger council table (later included in their catalog) is still situated beneath an original 1926 painting of the most famous mason, George Washington. Illuminating the room is a vintage reverse painted oil-on-glass globe, accented with bronze stars and rings. In this same room is the original Trazio flooring, resembling a giant chess board when viewed from above.

The Sapphire Room

This was the original meeting hall. Constructed with the utmost secrecy in mind, the building is windowless and completely sound proof. At the front of the hall, you will find a light-up Masonic “G” symbol hanging over a low stage. The half-dome ceiling that it hangs from is painted with traditional Masonic symbols. An array of Masonic relics are on display throughout, including robes, staffs, original signage and even a watercolor depicting The Lodge as it was almost 100 years ago.

Rescued from Demolition

Years later, due to waning membership, it was decided that this location was no longer needed as a stand-alone Lodge and was to be sold. Originally slated for demolition so the site could be used as a parking lot, it was saved from this fate by Stephen L. Phillips. He recognized the beauty and historical significance of the property and after a several-month-long battle, Phillips became the proud owner of The Lodge.

That place is about 2 minutes from my work. Never seen the inside of it and have driven past it at least a few hundred times.

I'll choose a winner by the end of the day, if there is interest.

While lesser known than the iconic falls on the nation's border, Buffalo's greatest water/fire combo must be the Eternal Flame Falls in Shale Creek Preserve. Legend has it that the fire has burned since the Ice Age, when ancient Buffaloonians were drawn to its constant source of warmth and light. They keep the fire burning in their hearts to this day. Legend also has it that the light has never been extinguished, although in truth, occasionally a park ranger will have to sneak under the falls with a Zippo in the middle of the night.

@TheCADJockey - have you been?

Don't have much to add, I know very little about Buffalo. Jim Kelly was a great competitor, and beat cancer. I think he's a good role model for people who like sports. People like iijakii.
