I dint know I see this thing ending around 1400 hrs central. Once Cad gets done checking emails we'll see cat gifs flying at there normal pace.
Man I'm more excited about this than the powerball a few months ago.
Water about to get my day started.

Oh, alright then.. just going off personal experiences where adding sugar seemingly had zero perceived effect.

Yeah... and may be true for the lighter/hoppier ales, depending on the recipe, a half pound isn't going to do much.

But I think with the stout, if it's too dry, that roasty flavor can almost turn to a acrid/burnt flavor with zero sweetness to counter.

Think in terms of the anti-sweetness properties of inline mash steaktoaster decoctions.

I definitely don't want acrid.. are you in the 'add crystal' boat too then, or just keep sugar out?

Unless we're talking about my car that's on a donut right now and then yes.

@TheCADJockey why add the wheat? Just curious.

Drinking water...overdid the beer last night...belly wrecked.

@TheCADJockey why add the wheat? Just curious.

The only reason I originally wanted to make a stout, was because I wanted to use midnight wheat when I saw it at the store. It just drew me in. Don't know what it will do, but that is the one item that is non-negotiable.. even if it will ruin the beer.

Do you think it's a bad addition?

Nah, midnight wheat is awesome. Maybe not my first choice for a stout, but it does have a smooth slightly roasty flavor. I keep 2-3lbs on hand at all times in case I feel the need for a black IPA or saison

Nope. Just wondered was all.

Put a piece of silicone on the end of my faucet and turned it down, filled a growler last night with very little foam. Think I'll feel safe sending out bottles like that. We'll see. Probably should let one sit for a week at room temp first to test? Don't want to send any of you nasty oxidized beer. Eh, at least it'd be better than a saison.
