Ehh... I buy 10# containers of pre-peeled garlic at the Korean grocery store. Then whiz them up in the food processor and freeze them in clumps. Cheap, easy and fresh.
.

You sir, are a genius. Now I just gotta find a Korean grocery store.

Moving slow today. Got an 80s themed birthday party tonight....

Flock. Had to stop a mile and a half into my run due to ANOTHER flocking twisted ankle. At this point, I will never get back to form.

My wife has a lot of trouble with spraining her ankles. A friend suggested that--once the sprain was healed--to take a couple of minutes each day and balance on one foot at a time. It's supposed to help strengthen the muscle and tendon connections.

I'm too lazy to unblock a blocked plate chiller. :p

Me too. I had to make my hop spider nearly the size of my kettle. Everyone's got their own methods I guess. As long as your beer speaks for itself whatevers

Wife and kid sleeping and I'm gaming. Perfect.

Nap time here too. Just about to pitch my yeast. Wort is almost cooled to 48°F

Love this time of the day at the weekend. The quiet will end all too soon.

Had a fun brew this morning.

Water Profile.png

After some homework I decided to try a much softer water profile this time round.

TL,DR. Jibber-jabber, beer brewed

So we picked out a minivan. Found a great deal and decided not to spend weeks looking for the next one. Honda Odyssey, we'll pick it up Monday night. So if you guys could let me post a pic of my new minivan for #20k...

Let me know what you think. What year? Trim?

Wife wants a Forrester but with these two boys we have, I think the comfort in that vehicle will be short lived.

Nap time is good time. So is brew time. If only I could nap while brewing. Wait, isn't there a thread about that somewhere?

Hi.

Why do I keep trying Abita? This is terrible.

I mean, I'm gonna drink it cause it's beer. But I'm gonna bitch while I drink it.

I've never had an Abita beer worth writing home about. I've heard (@TobyG I think) that the good stuff doesn't get much distribution.

I won't be buying any more. Luckily I only bought the one

If I'm not mistaken, happy bday gavin! Whatd you think of the bbq last night?

Not my birthday. Maybe it's the original Gavin's (the one without the C who gets tagged). Thanks all the same mate.

The BBQ was something special. I really enjoyed it. 3 pours, each more delicious than the last. I'm rubbish at describing beers. The label mentioned cherries, bugger me if I could pick them out though.

Washed it down with a BA legion (love that beer) and and Alt to really hammer home the ropey head for this morning's fun and games. Well worth it. Fantastic beer. I'll be getting more of that so long as Costco keep stocking it. (~$11)

Also to add. My pH meter is sick. Needs a new probe I think. Not unexpected given its age. they have limited life-spans apparently. Congrats on your new one.

Hi.

Why do I keep trying Abita?

Because you hate life? Abita makes very few things 1) that travel well 2) will please people that know beer and 3) that get the distribution of their regular lineup. Their Select lineup used to be reliably great but since they started bottling it, even that has taken a hit.

I'm drinking Vegas beers.

Carb/lagering sample of my German Pilsner (3 weeks since brewday)

Another week or so and it should be ready for mass consumption. Still needs to brighten a touch but is tasting very crisp already. Quite a bit different from my first Pils I think. (Different yeast and hops).

HB peated Scottish ale, while assembling a Bacon Explosion to put in the smoker. :ban:

The dogs are losing their sht.

That's some fancy bacon-tapestry work. Nice

How is the peated ale? Looks great. I think I'd like to do a 1 gallon experimental heated ale. Seems to be a love it or hate sort of malt. I know @WesleyS has mentioned a couple of times that he's none too fond of it.
