Thanks. Saved that, I might give it a go one more time.. or a few if I actually get the 1-2 gallon setup. Wife loves hard ciders, as do all my friends. Why can't the people I know just enjoy good beer?

I'm not sure what happened, I mean I have a pretty good idea.. but for it to have zero apple properties left? I assume the yeast was the culprit. Montrachet wine yeast in this case. Tried a cider someone brought to the LHBS, think they used S-05.. it tasted like pear juice. It was funking awesome.

No worries. I am far from knowlegable when it comes to cider so be sure to fact check any of that. The racking part is kind of at your discretion. Essentially it's perhaps good not to have the cider sitting on the trub for too long. As it takes months to finish it's maybe no bad thing to rack. I don't know. Simpler for sure would just be to top up. That what I do with JAOM as per the instructions.

Montrachet yeast will dry things out. The more sugar is added the less appley the cider will be. A wine yeast will give a drier result than an ale yeast. I used S-05 because that's what I had. S-04 is popular too. My graff finished at about 1.008 if I remember. Pretty good.

Do a JAOM. Everyone should do a JAOM

JAOM

It needs to age. Sent my last bottle of 2014 JAOM to a @passedpawn recently. He said he liked it but people be being polite and all. I've got 9 bottles of 2015 aging. I don't drink them often. Going to wait till they are a year old.

How much did ingredients cost @rofltagGavin C?

Looks pretty.

I racked it to secondary after a month or so? It stayed in secondary for a year. Man I wanted dry, but I also wanted at least SOME apple flavor/aroma. Added no sugar. Just apple juice/yeast. Oh well. Will try your way next.

What's Big Flats? It sounds delightful.

Freezing rain out. About to leave work after having not accomplished much. Going to stop at a bar on the way home I think.

Cmon man! I really did like it! Perhaps I'm not a great judge of such things, but I know when I like something :)

See, polite as flock. (Thanks man. That last batch was good if I do say so myself. My first effort was all nope)

Looks pretty.

3.5lbs of honet from Sams/costco, an orange, bread yeast, raisins and some spices (give the cloves a miss). I'll guess at $8. Everthing but the honey was in the pantry anyway.

Never had a mead I liked.

I've never had one I didn't make. I've only made JAOM thrice. I have 3 gallons of experience as a mazer.

Damn.... 15 pages behind. Was going to do beer stuff today but started drinking early at a local bottle shop.

Every entrant offers up one beer (bottle or can), to be shipped to the person who happens to post to this thread for the 20,000th time. If the person who posts the 20,000th post is not on this list, it will go to the next person on the list to post after post # 20,000.

You do not need to disclose what you are sending ahead of time.

Feel free to send more if you so desire.

If you would like to participate, quote this post and I'll add your name to the list.

Aaaaaaaand we're officially at a case (technically... we all know fins is just going to send a case of short fills and denties (I think that's the industry term)).

Not as tasty as this lunch! Thanks! I put this bacon jam on everything. Even the stuff I hate like broccoli. Well never mind there is no making broccoli taste or smell good in my book.

They do mail order, too. the price isn't bad and there is a freight allowance i think . I think I'll put a jar in the winning shipment. Too good not to share.

At a bar along the walk home. First beer is a rye raison, from one if my face breweries. It's kind if crap. Rates too much like orange juice from concentrate.

Maybe I should have the wife make some bacon jam. We made a ****load of strawbanjero last July and it was amazing. That, a nice creamy cheese and salami? Hot damn.
