Hey dudes. Hope ya guys had decent weekend. Went couch shopping yesterday and picked out a sofa/chaise. After 10+ years, my wife and I can finally get rid of the stupid futon. Now, I just need a dining room table and maybe the place will feel like home and we can sit at a table to eat like adults.

Happy Singles Awareness Day.

It's really the first time I've gone furniture shopping. Previously we either had hand-me-downs or just refurbished items from yard sales. When we walked into the store, some preppy ass salesman asked if he could help.. wanting to make it quick, I said yes. I'm looking for a sofa with a chaise. Pronounced it "chase" because America. He said, "You mean a chaise?" and I just walked away. Some other dude got a nice commission on that day.

Morning all. Apparently my wife's work honors the Day of the Presidents... mine, not so much.

Full Thrattle and trying to figure out how I can sneak in a weekday brew day this week. Heading to Omaha on Friday, I've already started an ISO list.

Those are the good times :D
We always go into those types of places knowing exactly what we want, what they are asking for and what the actual bottom cost is to leave us room to negotiate.

Yeah man, last year or two has been weird. I don't make a lot by any means (especially not with crippling debt figured in) but I don't have to make my own stuff now and can get her nice things. I was a salesman at one point too, and I hated myself for talking people into buying **** they didn't need. So it's fun funking with them now. Got the guy down quite a bit after listening to his bs stories. He worked with me though. I'll be going back for a bed at some point.

I start at 1/4 of what they're asking and work up from there... furniture markups are about the highest of anything you can buy.

President's day off for SWMBO, snow/ice day and kids out if school too. Slept in a bit...time for coffee.

Aren't there some lighting dudes in here? I have some recessed fixtures that buzz like a mofo. I'm thinking halogen bulbs? Is there anything I can do so they don't buzz?

I hate furniture shopping, or more specifically I hate dealing with furniture salespeople.

When we were engaged and moving into our house, we went to get a bedroom set and other basics. The sales guy pounced on us just inside the door. We told him "this is what we are looking for, but we'd like to browse, please give us some space and we'll find you when ready."

He still stalked us around the store, coming by to "check on us" whenever we lingered too long in one area. We gave the sale to someone else. The original sales guy started to whine that we gave the commission to another person. Look man, we told you we wanted our space, and you didn't leave us alone.

The wild Brett gave off a terrible bandaid flavor that is still present 5 months after brewing. It tastes so friggin bad but I have two vials of bug county I need to use so I will fill the carboy shortly

That'll be me :D
Can you see into the fixture at all? Take out the reflector cone if you can and see if you can find a tag detailing a part number. The buzzing wouldn't be from the lamp source, but if its a low voltage housing it could be the transformer. You might be able to by-pass the transformer with an MR16 or Par16 LED bulb on the cheap and not have to replace it every three weeks, if you were so inclined. Snap me some pics if you can. I'll let you know what I can figure out remotely for you.
I'll send you my email address if you don't want to post it on HBT, its up to you

Ha.

I'm actually thinking crush grain tomorrow night, get water collected and treated, mash in on lunch the following day, come home and boil.

It's pretty much every fixture that does it....some louder than others.

Sounds like a great plan. Whtcha brewing?

No idea. I usually figure this stuff the day before... then I spend the better part of the day getting my water figured out and all that fun stuff.

Should probably just do a pale or something stupid like that... don't want to subject a malty brew to an extended mash with dropping temps. I call it an extended inline temp-reduction mash.

Coff. Slept like a baby on the couch til 1 AM, then like a stone in my bed until 7. Don't think I'll be working a full day.

Went to try to pull a gravity sample of my RIS last night and the krausen was so thick I didn't even try. Gave the carboy a thump and it started to sink so maybe I can get a clean pull of it tonight. I did pour a shot of the oaked Jack Daniels. Mmm wood. If I'm close to FG tonight the chips are going in.

Honestly surprised there aren't more of us. 12 years tech. Customer support here, 4 years of facility maintenance. I know stuff.

You might have a voltage issue. Line voltage 120v?

Actually a better question...are they all connected to a dimmer?

I'd start at the switch/dimmer. 60% of the time, it works all the time. If they are low voltage, I'd switch em to line like Duffman suggested.

[bunch of off-topic brewing nonsense here]

Don't know what it is man, when I'm winding down at night and sit down to chill with wife before bed.. I'll start passing out, like man I'm going to sleep awesome tonight. Go to bed. Lay there and stare at the ceiling for five funking hours. Sleep is stupid.

I saw PP mention the HBT is moving today, hopefully it's straightened out by the end of the day.
On the homeroast.

Hunh.... Might need to check the web version announcements more often.

On the way to the outside for a first pass shovel. Not supposed to get enough to break out the snowblower.

I do that on any normal day, but Friday night I got 2 hours of fitful angry interrupted every five minutes by a teenager getting a dang soda at five in the morning sleep, and Saturday night I got like four. 2 hour nap plus sleeping from 10 til 7 last night and I feel somewhat human. My voice is almost back too, I sounded like Barry White and Red Foxx's live child most of the weekend. Leading lessons was awesome.
